  1. cool. how long did it take you to get a handle on editing/tweaking? can you set it up to adjust anything live? mike
  2. +1 Brooks. you gotta let us know how that box is working for you. mike

Kind of Blue - Miles Birth of the Cool - Miles Impressions - Wes Boss Guitar - Wes most anything by Ray most anything by Monk most anything (Rubber Soul +) by The Beatles most anything by The Police a few by Frisell Hail to the Thief pre- and post-Elminator ZZ oh yeah, and most Crimson
  4. here's mine. a few more scratches than some. coming up on 5 years with this one. mike
  5. + vibes to you. keep your chin up!! mike
  6. working on the same old stuff here: playing over changes. mike
  7. Not DavidE, but the Subway Blues and Mav clean channel have the same deal: as you increase the mid to about 10-11:00, the control acts like a traditional mid tone knob. as you turn up the mids even more it acts like an additional gain stage. works great, esp. for non-masters like the SB and BA. mike
  8. Boogies are all I have at the moment: a Maverick head, two Subway Blues combos, and an early Mk I head that has been around for twenty-five years. My buddy had a Mk II that may have been the best amp I have ever heard. Caveat: I am not really a rock player and rarely use high gain or channel-switching. I generally run them pretty clean - almost Fenderish - and use pedals if I need 'em. mike
  9. hey austin, huge XTC fan here. you may already know 'bout this but here is a pretty cool archive of some live shows. back to the program.... i horde albums/CDs by XTC and Adrian Belew. mike
  10. i haven't properly cleaned my M3 since i got it more than 2 years ago. startin' to look good...... i feel kind of embarrased playing a shiny new guitar. as always, ymmv, imho, etc. mike
  11. OT but i just bought the digidelay ~ $90. excellent...... mike
  12. +1 on Fuzz Factory. i LOVE over-the-top fuzz tones and FF is one of the best. you might try a PE Experience -- the SWELL mode is chaotic. mike
  13. +1 - but i'm guessing it's short-scale, right? that's a deal-breaker for me these days. mike
  14. my rig is always minimal, but that depends entirely on the gig. for my more experimental stuff, i use fuzz - ring mod - trem - swirly stuff - loopers - vol. pedal +tuner - tape echo - amp(s) in roughly that order. for my current r&b/soul thing, i am down to a small board with buffer - comp - OD - vol + tuner - amp with maybe a bit a swirl/trem/echo added somewhere. BTW, anyone using long cords betwixt gtr/board or board/amp is advised to check out the Lovepedal mini-boost buffer (if he is still building them). sean has made a killer little problem solver here! mike
  15. Nice board! I would like to hear how the Zendrive compares with the Timmy. I love my ZD and I am thinking about ordering a Timmy. mike
  16. OD/Booster: Zendrive (OD) and MOAB booster Wah: Chorus/Flanger: ADA (like to try a TZF) Delay: Space Echo, Fulltone TTE, MoogerFooger Delay Phaser: EQ: Misc (any other notable mention): MoogerFooger RingMod, Boomerang, StroboStomp mike
  17. Our thoughts are with you. mike
  18. i dig those shapes too. The sus4 and 7sus4 shapes support quartal harmony, which I am really into at the moment. Very open sounding. Really interesting things starting happening when you invert stacked fourths. Sometimes hard to grab, but cool sounding . mike
  19. belgian, glad your long wait is over. it's a beauty! My M3 is the only guitar I pick up these days; sold 3 guitars since I got it! mike
  20. I love my old one (it's a Mk I, I suppose). It's been my number one for 20 years. Not a very versatile amp, and definitely no modern high gain available. It excels at loud, on-the-edge-of-distortion sounds. Good with pedals and bullet-proof. mike
  21. Wow. This place (Panther Branch ...) is about two miles from my house. Any HFCers are welcome to stop by and quaff a beer. Maybe there should be a secret handshake? mike
  22. Details please! (and not about Floyd or Gomer.) I live in Garner. Never mind. I found the TGP thread. mike
  23. I have experience with both dealers. I bought a Mon III from Acoustic Axis that Steve was listing on eBay. I live in Raleigh and regularly go to Indoor Storm and check out stuff. They have a great high-end amp selection (Fuchs!), but relatively few Hamers, mostly Elites, IIRC. Eddie is a great guy and always willing to help. FWIW, I would recommend both dealers. mike
  24. I'll chime in here and join the concensus. I have always felt the Monaco pick-ups were overbearing. I'm changing my Mon III P90s to Lollars this week, but I am stuck with the SD buckers in the Monaco for a while. IMO, these are incredibly expressive guitars that require equally expressive pick-ups. mike
