Artist Custom for $12K?

Saw this listed by a Japanese seller. Nice guitar, but at $12K seems super overpriced, unless there's something I am not aware about this specific guitar. What gives?

                                Great looking guitar, I can't imagine anyone not wanting to own that one but being far from an expert I can't see anything that would make it stand out as something special from other Artist Customs. It's not unusual to see guitars and other items priced at some insane prices from sellers in Japan. Often times they actually don't even own said instrument. I used to buy guitars from a very reputable seller in Japan, and he was usually right on the mark for value with a few exceptions of some really rare examples. Cool guitar but 12K cool? Nope.

i have an artist custom that I will gladly let go for 10k if someone wants it   I actually think the top on mine is better than this one

And here’s the auction in Japan where the actual owner is selling it with a starting bid of around $5,600 and BIN for $7K. Still rather pricey. But that’s a hell of a markup by the eBay scamproxy.

Someone has bid over $5,700 for this guitar on the (as far as I know) actual seller's website.

What am I missing?  Last time I checked, these were selling for $2,500 -$3,000.

I tried selling mine here for 2.2 or 2..1k and no bites..  so that is even high IMO

Many sellers put up a stupid price just so you'll look at it. Then, almost all of these auctions say "or best offer" under the price. It does work sometimes on the  unaware that will throw an offer of 50% off of asking, and they think they're getting a deal. Or like Kizanski said, here comes the shill bid to get the juices flowing, and some dummy may bite.. Ahhhh, good old ebay..
