jisham Posted February 7 Posted February 7 (edited) I haven't posted here in a long time other than For Sale ads although I've been around here many, many years and still read this forum daily. Any way . . . 3 years ago, I turned 60 and thought it would be a good time to sell off most of my gear and focus on wrapping up my career (luckily I retired last April). I was also fortunate to have a very good musical run starting in garage bands in junior high, original bands in my 20s and 30s and finally many years in cover bands until I was 55. My goal to "retire" from buying/selling gear has been an utter failure. I've bought and sold more guitars, amps and pedals than I can even remember. That addiction afforded me the opportunities to try most everything. But I never owned a a Suhr, until now. I saw the specs on this Suhr Oso recently (short-scale, "Historic C" roasted maple neck profile with a trem) and decided right away to buy one. It's been here a few days and I am completely blown away. Lots of tone options with the 5 way switch, and the neck is just perfect for me because I love Les Pauls and Nocasters with big-ass necks. The Oso is the ideal marriage of those two IMO. While I only goof around at home these days, I've played this one a few hours a day since I got it. Of course, I'm now going to buy another Suhr :). Dutchman Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Interesting guitar! I have a Suhr Alt T. It's not my number 1 but it's a Hamer USA level instrument. Enjoy!! 2 Quote
Travis Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Nice! Congrats on the score. I played a similar one a few months ago. Alder bod with maple cap. A really great guitar. When they announced them I knew I had to try one. The wife and I were up in Milwaukee for our anniversary in November and there was a place 10 minutes from the hotel that had one, along with some Tom Andersons and a Knaggs Kenai. Of the guitars I played, the Oso was the most comfortable and the body contours hugged me perfectly. The roasted neck was super smooth and slick. In the end, the Oso Had a smaller neck than I wanted and I fell in love with the asymmetrical back shape of the Knaggs. But, that Oso was a damn fine piece of gear. 1 Quote

There are 4 models of the Oso and I know the two with maple caps have smaller necks than this one for some reason. This one’s neck is why I chose it although I would’ve preferred one with a nice maple top. 2 Quote

django49 Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Nice! I am also a late comer to Suhr. Their Classic S is right up there with some other higher end guitars. I DID also add a JM type. Still getting into that....Not sure if it is a long term keeper, but it is sorta scratching an itch for the original Fender I had back in the 60s. Sure better than the original. If and when an Andy Wood Modern T pops up at a fair price, I reckon I will have to do that. New ones in the "Whiskey Barrel" finish will not be available for a few months. Have fun! 1 Quote
Tortious Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Suhrs are awesome. May need to get one in each neck size. 🤪 Like I need more guitars. 2 Quote
Spinaltap Posted February 9 Posted February 9 I like the plain top, it has character and isn't over the top Enjoy 4 Quote
django49 Posted February 20 Posted February 20 So, the one I was looking for popped up a bit earlier than I expected. Just arrived today. It just be the first "Tele" that I have really bonded with. We will see....Minor adaptation with that extra flat board, but I am digging it. Andy Wood signature model, with his demo for Sweetwater...... Between this one and the other (S type), I am very impressed with Suhr. 1 Quote
LucSulla Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Is it more "oso" good, or that Suhr guy is a real "oso"? 1 Quote
