Valvetech 2x10 Combo for sale

Gotta raise some cash, so (insert mournful sigh) I must pass along my Valvetech 2x10 Combo to someone who can give it the love it deserves.

I corresponded with Rob Pierce at Valvetech to verify all of this info. This unit is serial# 130 made in May '04. It is the very amp that graces the Valvetech homepage. Check it out at.Valvetech homepage On 3/02/05 Rob Pierce verified that this unit had recently been back to his shop and had been completely updated. Yes, it has reverb, fx loop, presence, 12ax7 - 12at7 switch .

Click here for a frontal frontal view In an attempt at total honesty and upfront disclosure you will see a very faint horizontal line. Its about 1/3 of the way down from the top of tweed mesh. That line does indeed exist when you see it in person. There are no snags in the mesh, perhaps it just got pulled a wee bit too tight when it was attached to the cab.

I acquired it from cajunboy, but I can assure you it has retained no hot sauce aroma. ;-) The amp truly looks and operates brand new. not a scuff, scratch or mark on it. I am only selling it selling it because I need the cash and this is the one that seems to get the least playing time, especially since I've been confined to playing in the basement for the last few months. But the spiders are diggin' the tone. ;-)

$900 CONUS shipping included.

Oh, I LOVE that amp. I was the original owner and custom ordered it for the photo shoot, as I designed the Valvetech page. It freaking rocks. BUT I was playing bass at the time and my guitarist basically comandeered it. For two weeks he raved about the thing and I decided I'd never be able to use it so grabbed it back and traded it to Cajun for a minty B12L.

Wow, I am tempted to buy it back.

+1 on everything these fine gents have said. It didn't stay at my place longer than maybe a few months, nice and comfy in my little funroom. The chassis went back to Rob for his latest little upgrade he had at the time. I might still have some photos of it on my other computer. I'll post some if I do.

organic raging tone that cuts through the mix. I love the 2x10 config alot.

I won't part with my VAC. I've kept mine as original; the old design. I'm like MCChris, I'm nervous to change it cuz it sounds so friggin great.

I've never heard one of these - the reviews are great, but I'd like to hear from some of you former/current owners and HFC jam vets.

While you guys compile your VAC praise, I'll be busy attempting (and failing) to convince myself that I don't need another amp..........

sirDaniel, cajunboy, and polara are about as "HFC vets" as you can find. If you want more info, do a search on this site.

keyword = valvetech

search where = all forums, check off all child forums

search posts from = any date

you will get plenty of threads from former & current owners, HFC veterans, there was even an HFC JAM with an amp shootout that included the Valvetech in Spring '05(?) By the way, just in case you didn't know, Rob Pierce, owner/founder/chief engineer/etc is tralfax19645 on this HFC board. If you want to talk about his amp and/or compare it to others he has always been very helpful, either by email thru his website or phoning him. Very good guy, down-to- earth.

Yes BK, you DO need another amp. This one.

BTW, my wife just read my last post. She remarked that it could be read that you (i.e. me the seller) have a snotty tone. Sorry guys, no snottiness intended. I'll leave that to the real pros like JazzFusionBoy.

no snots intended

my apologies gents

Hi Bluesking,

I got your e mail but not sure how to return it so ill just post here.

I would make sure the amp has the F mod. Makes all the difference. You can also ask teefus about the adjustable OT freq response pot, it will help match those blue pup 10s to the amp better, they sounded bright to me as most 10s do with the amp, took a long time to figure out how to get it to work right with any ten using the existing OT. This is really a non issue on the amps with a 12,although to me it gives a little nicer top end especially clean, and not as much compression, when the amp is totally cranked. Bruce 919s amp sounded fine with the fixed filter with those cel 10 s his amps has though.

I would be glad to do whatever it needs.

yep, rob's OT mod is a great idea. it makes it a lot easier to go between a 2x12 cab and a 2x10 cab which i have. you can really dial the amp in for just about any set up. i have a hayseed custom and a vac 50 watter. they are both pretty amazing. i had an informal amp shoot out last tuesday with some friends of mine. they brought a guytron fv100 (through a dr z z-best cab with a red fnag and an alnico tone tubby) and a mesa mark iv combo (stock evm). both thought the valvetech vac 50 (trutone 2x10 with a weber thames and a weber chicago) sounded better, besides being much more affordable.

I had a chance to visit CaddieLand the other day and to my surprise that tasty Valvetech was still there! Come on slackers, this one has some HFC family history someone should keep the ball rolling!

Somebody buy this amp before I'm tempted to make an appearance in divorce court!!!

It's probably a good thing Caddie didn't mention Paypal.

PAYPAL!!!!

Just kidding. no, no, no PP.

I'm sure we could work out the details on a trade for a Studio w/ a wraparound tail, non '59 burst.

Come on ETk, I live just a few short miles away in Naperville. (aka: no shippeee)

I have Pop Tarts AND Bomb Pops!

How many watts is this puppy?

Posted

from the Valvetech website:

The ValveTech is a class A/B amp has about 22 watts that sounds like 50 with a tone that's just plain SWEET. The heart of the amp are its 3-12AX7s, 2-6V6 power tubes and a 5U4 rectifier tube.

How close you are makes this especially scary. Good thing I never had a Wraparound Studio. Just 25th Ann, Daytona, and a Takamine A/E.

I see something in the background. Looks like a Studio/Natual/Wrap, or is there an f-hole hiding behind your leg (stop that snickering, not THAT kind of f-hole) that makes that item into an Artist?
