Pre 82 Dean wanted

Recommended Posts

Anyone here know of or seen any pre 1982 big headstock Dean ML or Vs? I'm looking to pick one up (Standard series-with the bound body). Don't want repaired or Kahlered, etc, just a straight one. Any help would be greatly appreciated! The Dean Forum is pretty cool, but looks tough to pick one up over there. Thanks in advance!

I'll try and keep an eye out for you, they do pop up on ebay fairly often actually but condition wise obviously varies alot.

The Dean forum is a good place to frequent as well like you already said. There usually aren't too many oldies for sale there, but those guys are pretty good about posting any they see for sale just for the sake of doing so.

Thanks!

That's pretty much what I'm looking for! Very cool.

If anyone here can locate one for me, I'll happily pay a finder's fee. Looking for the large V headstock '82 and earlier Standards (bound bodies). Not really looking for routes, breaks, etc unless they're really cheap. ML, V and Z in that order of preference.

Thanks!

I talked to the guy w/the Caddy-they're a little too small for me-I need the bigger guitar! Thanks though!

I just read that Dean thread. Great looking Caddy. What's up with $1150 - is that their running joke? If so, those guys make us look like the cheap bastards we really are.

That Caddy thread is 11 months old. Looks like he initially offered it for $2500 then went down to $1150. :P:P:P

Steve would you like a Korina Czech made V? I know someone with one for sale on the Dean Forum. :Picon8.gif

Yea, a Korina Czech made V. I'm sure that's what he's looking for.

You guys are funny.

He posts that he's looking for a Pre 82 ML or V Standard, so everyone "helps out" by telling him about a Cadillac, a Czech V, and a Z for sale.

What's next? An EVO?

The Czech Korina stuff is REALLY nice - no doubt about it! I think Steve is only looking for "the one that got away" (or the "ones"!), so that's what it's gonna take.

So offering up something nice is a Bad thing now? ;);)

I actually talked the guy that owns it into playing it a few times and he has decided to keep it. Life IS Good!!!

Nice??

Where??

This is getting off topic now. I'm curious though, why do you think the Czech Deans are junk?

I never said they were junk.

I pointed out that people offered Serial everything except what he specifically mentioned that he was looking to buy.

I did make a joke that they weren't "nice," though, and for guys like me (and Steve) who already have at least a Hamer Korina Vector in the house, Czech Dean V's are probably one of the last guitars that would be considered.

This thread getting off topic was precisely my point. He posted that he was interested in two specific models. He even mentioned the cut off year. A Czech V, a Cadillac, and a Z are neither of those.

By all means, let's get back on topic.

Serial is looking for a Pre 82 Dean ML or V Standard.

Anyone know of one for sale??

Gentlemen, gentlemen, please know that I have communicated with Serial Steve off HFC on his quest. I knew what he was looking for. I also knew that for the money Czech Korina V, Z, Caddys cant be beat. The wood and hardware are first rate quality and the build quality is excellant. I took no offense to your comments Kiz but I'm not sure what the point of you being irritated about the other offerings was. ;);)

Pre-82 Deans without routing for trems, broken headstock, and refins are becoming tough to come across and yet like the inevitable 4 digit Standards that pop up now and then they will too. I got an eye out for my friend here and we will get him SOMETHING to suit his tastes. Pretty sure it will be Yummy.;)

It's a pet peeve of mine. You ask for something and then you're offered everything under the Sun except what you asked for.

I went to the computer hardware store recently and bought something for my PC.

"Do you want the extended service plan with that?"

"No thank you. I'm all set."

"Becuase you know, for just another 10% of your purchase cost, you can..."

My hand went up to interrupt him. "What did I JUST say?"

Just this past week, I went to the Post Office to mail a letter.

"Any hamful items? Toxic chemicals? Perishables?"

"It's a letter..."

"Do you need any extra services: Delivery confirmation, tracking, etc?"

"No thank you."

"Would you like to purchase stamps with that?"

"No thanks."

"We're selling these ribbon pins (he mothined to the basket by his register) for..."

"NO thanks. Anything else" I asked, pretty irritated. "Maybe soft drink? You know, I'm pretty hungry. Any food back there?! Are we through??"

So, it's just a thing with me.

That, and I think Deans are junk.

There. NOW I said it.

"That, and I think Deans are junk."-Kiz ;):lol:

You're free to feel that way. I did too for 25 years. Probably missed out on a couple cool guitars and for the most part they were 1982-1997 IMNSHO.

I know what you mean about going to a store and getting te pitch. Not needed most of the time when you know what product you want.

Life IS Good.

Nice to see the hands are gone. ;)
