I don't have a proper scale but in hand it is lighter than it looks. I would estimate it at 8 - 9 lbs. Los Angeles........baby!

Call me strange(more than likely) but I like these better than all of the fancy tops out there...... I sold my 59 burst Standard and got one of these...congrats sonicblue

Definitely a big congrats on an awesome guitar. I was never sure I would like the Standard body shape until I got my 97 Mahogany. Now, I could definitely see myself getting another one.

That guitar is one of the greats that I have owned and regretted selling.

At the time I was considering the purchase from an ebaY seller in Canada. When I mentioned to Greg (it was one of the first conversations that I had had with Mr. BCR), he practically jumped through the phone to urge me to buy.

"JUMP NOW!" were his exact words.

The ultra-resonant one piece body and the Rio pickups are a great match. It was good with the stock '59's, but the Rio Grandes MAKE that guitar.

If the neck were larger, I'd still have it.

Hey Kiz ...

That brings up an interesting question ... What is the variation in Standard neck sizes?

The whole reason I joined the HFC is to find a USA mahogany standard to replace my Korean Standard ... I too prefer a thicker neck, But I thought all standards were basically the same

What years or types of Standards do I have to look for to get the thicker neck?

Thanks!

I don't know if it is a question of which year, rather than how the guitar was ordered.

That one apparently wasn't ordered with the large neck, but I'm pretty sure the larger carve was available at the time (1997).

Hey Rick. I sent you an email....get back to me when you can. Thanks.

Thanks Kiz

Does that mean that the larger carve WAS NOT available on the earlier Standards?

What about on the four digits, were they all the same size necks or did they varie also?

I don't know what was readily available back then (although in the 4 Digit days technically anything was available), but I have yet to play a 4 Digit with a large neck. that has always been the deal breaker for me with those and why I have never had the urge to own one. Otherwise, I'd own at least one.

'99 was the introduction of the "larger neck" carve, but I believe it was standard, not an option. It was about fuckin' time!!!

I don't think the neck size option (modern or vintage) came about until maybe '04??? BCR Greg could tell us for sure.

I'd say 95% of the '70s/'80s/early-mid '90s Hamers were of the thinner neck variety.

My #0150 has a pretty substantial neck near the nut but tapers thinner as you go up.

I had a 1986 Blitz with a baseball bat neck. I found it used & was amazed at the thickness.

(In my best Guv-a-ner Schwartzenegger voice) Now it is MINE! :P:D:D

Sonicblue1960 bailed on it due to his insatiable Motorcycle frenzy and the smaller neck. I like it. Life IS Good!!!

I like the Tortie guard it has on it. Nice flame to the body too. Some fresh porn soon eh?
