BCR Greg Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 So this fella gets this guitar from me in February, right after getting his Gold Top Avalon. He walks in the other day with the Ranger and says "I never play it, I only play the Avalon!" Turns out, the humbucker in the bridge position tone is what he likes. We work a trade; he walks out with a guitar that works for him, and I have a MINT, virtually unplayed Ranger Standard. Chunky neck, 7.2 pounds, Rio Grande pickups, resonant as a churchbell on Easter. And it's sparkly..... My Ranger is the only guitar to go to every gig I have played since I got it back in 2002. It has become critically important, and I am in NO WAY a fan of bolt neck guitars for my own use. Robin does bolt neck guitars right. $999 with equally mint case.
BadJaxx Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 i got to check that one out too....most resonant bolt-neck i've ever strummed...i seriously considered bringing it home....had to keep reminding myself that i don't really like maple boards...somebody's gonna be real happy with that deal...
ford Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 I just picked up a Ranger from Greg and they are GREAT guitars....... this one is hurting me, because I love maple necks.. I just don't really need another Ranger.. or do I?.. (cue the mystery music)rockbford
Zoner Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 $750. That pickup selector looks all bent funny. Nice manly neck riddled with flamey goodness or plain maple? I really need a trem axe but those Robins are screaming my name. I'm guessing more of a Tele vibe with the bridge PU selected? Z
BCR Greg Posted June 19, 2007 Author Posted June 19, 2007 We bend the pickup selector to get it out of your way. The bridge pickup is a Rio Muy Grande, so it's a Tele that had sex with a Junior in the bridge position, and the #2 position is David Gilmour in a tux.$750? Thanks for looking. You obviously have no idea what's going on here.

El Kabong Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 While you are on the computer, please check if my mail is in your in box, Greg.
Travis Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 If only that had a humbucker in the bridge..........Killer guitar for a killer price. Good luck, Greg.

Stokesdead Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 so......how much would it cost to put a humbucker in the bridge before you ship it out?I guess you could have performed the surgery for the trader-in-er if you'd wanted.LOL
BCR Greg Posted June 19, 2007 Author Posted June 19, 2007 Tossing a bucker in the bridge would be easy, if needed.
ford Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Hey people.. the muy grande in the bridge has lots of oomph for a single coil.... heck you could always try a rio grande Dirty Harry or Stelly.. still not a bucker but I bet it would sound righteous! Heck or you can plop in one of those stacked Seymour Duncans.... not my cup of tea, but plenty of people like em!rockbford
Chollie Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Dirty Harry = bad @$$. I have one in the Etype and it has a very nice creamy p90 on steriods sounds
NewAKowner Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Congrats & great move, Lords - that Robin will be the perfect addition to your already schweeeet collection.
serial Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Damn-that didn't last long. I'm glad I DIDN'T pick that one up while I was in there. It looked awesome though. I dig those gits.
Zoner Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Wow, he who hesitates is truly left in the dust. Congrats!
BCR Greg Posted June 20, 2007 Author Posted June 20, 2007 I'm brewing something that will tighten Zoner's pants, so don't worry about it.Zoner, you may want to call me on Thursday.
BCR Greg Posted June 20, 2007 Author Posted June 20, 2007 Call the shop. I'm off on Wednesdays, but can help you tomorrow.Less than you would think, as far as price. These guitars are built as well as Hamers for a lot less money.I got into them when Hamer dropped bolt neck guitars, and I am damn glad that these guys found me.
