elduave Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 To me it's all about Rich and Chris and the songs, but a good part of their fanbase practically disowned the band after 3 Snakes (the last Ford record and tour). I just hope they don't stray to far back in to jam band mode.THE BLACK CROWESSELL OUT ALL SEVEN NEW YORK CITY SHOWS;ANNOUNCE PLANS TO TOUR DUE TO OVERWHELMING DEMAND;UNVEIL BAND LINE-UPIt started with five shows selling out instantly--in 11 minutes--at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom, marking the fastest New York sell-out that THE BLACK CROWES have experienced to date. To meet the absolutely overwhelming fan demand, two more shows were added at Hammerstein. And those sold out.Total tickets sold in New York City: 22,000.The buzz didn't stop there. High-profile invitations to perform on the main stage at Bonnaroo and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival followed—all without a single note even being played. And now the story continues for brothers CHRIS and RICH ROBINSON.THE BLACK CROWES--whose last performance was October 31, 2001--will reconnect with more of their fans for a run of headlining dates through the spring. After months of speculation on the message boards, the BLACK CROWES line-up is now unveiled: Chris Robinson (vocals), Rich Robinson (guitars), Marc Ford (guitars), Eddie Hawrysch (keyboards), Sven Pipien (bass) and Bill Dobrow (drums). In the midst of this excitement, plans are in motion for the band to cut a wider swath across America this summer. All will be revealed soon.Get ready for “15 Years of Cosmic Rock-n-Roll.”For more information, check out the band’s re-designed website: www.blackcrowes.com.Below are the confirmed tour dates:Date CITY/STATE VENUETue 3/22 New York, NY Hammerstein BallroomWed 3/23 New York, NY Hammerstein BallroomFri 3/25 New York, NY Hammerstein BallroomSat 3/26 New York, NY Hammerstein BallroomSun 3/27 New York, NY Hammerstein BallroomTue 3/29 New York, NY Hammerstein BallroomWed 3/30 New York, NY Hammerstein BallroomThu 4/21 Houston, TX Verizon Wireless TheatreFri 4/22 New Orleans, LA New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Fest.Sat 4/23 Gulfport, MS Gulfport Grand CasinoMon 4/25 Myrtle Beach, SC House of Blues Tue 4/26 Charleston, SC The PlexWed 4/27 Raleigh, NC Disco RodeoFri 4/29 Knoxville, TN Knoxville Civic AuditoriumSat 4/30 Asheville, NC Thomas Wolfe AuditoriumSun 5/1 Memphis, TN Beale Street Music FestivalThu 5/5 Atlanta, GA The TabernacleFri 5/6 Atlanta, GA The TabernacleThu 5/7 Atlanta, GA The TabernacleTue 5/10 Boston, MA Orpheum TheatreWed 5/11 Boston, MA Orpheum TheatreFri 5/13 Hampton Beach, NH Hampton Beach CasinoSat 5/14 Hampton Beach, NH Hampton Beach CasinoMon 5/16 Montreal, CAN MetropolisTue 5/17 Toronto, CAN Kool HausSun 5/22 Pensacola, FL Pensacola SpringfestTue 5/24 Ft. Disturber Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 Great! When you are done with them, send them to Sweden.I hope they do a new album as well.I think both "Lions" and "By your side" was killer."By your side" is a 100% party starter, justput on "Kickin my heart around" pop the firstbottle of beer and off you go!
Craig Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 Duave - I asked everyone I knew for extra tix for ya, no dice. Sorry about that.I will be at the show on the 22nd (Tues) & 25 (Fri) if anyone wants to meet up
Brooks Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 i know they're more song oriented guitar-wise (not chops), but audley freed can play circles around rich & marc (but it seems rich wouldn't really let him when he was in the band).
anotherfreak2 Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 Where's Audley Freed?????????????????????????Saw them las year as New Earth Mud, Freed has WAY more groove and style!!!!!!!!!!
Stike Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 Where's Audley Freed?????????????????????????Saw them las year as New Earth Mud, Freed has WAY more groove and style!!!!!!!!!! From 2 very reliable sources I was told Audley was asked first but declined.
Tres Aardvarks Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 sonnuvabich, they're not even coming anywhere NEAR Colorado!! I got back into the Crowes with Lions, which is a GREAT album with some awesome tones on it. Hmm, might HAVE to go to the JazzFest now.
anotherfreak2 Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 I just picked up the Black Crowes/Jimmy Page album last month, and that album made me a big AF fan, I think the Crowes do Zep better that Zep!I am very excited to see them no matter the lineup, It'll be a great show !
elduave Posted March 4, 2005 Author Posted March 4, 2005 Hmm, might HAVE to go to the JazzFest now. You'll see me and hopefully Jeff R. there. I'd say Cmatthes too but he hasn't gotten back to me which usually means he can't do it so he just doesn't reply thus leaving you in the dark because he hates to dissapoint because he's so damn agreeable.
Buzzy Fretts Posted March 4, 2005 Posted March 4, 2005 Hey 'duave' technically I'm cbeeper's date. But it seems whenever I see one of your posts I see a big red heart. Its gotta mean something! If you get in, I'll send him off for popcorn and meet ya in the last row...
mudshark Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 I've got a DVD: Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals Live at the Hollywood Bowl, that features Marc Ford on electric guitar. He is outstanding in this particular show.
Jeff R Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 Me, Cajun, fooder, elduave, notsteve and now the 'vark too?Sounding like the official launch of "The first-ever HFC Jazz Fest Event, Cajun Jam, Crawfish Boil Kegger, French Quarter Drinknstripperfest and Shootinswampcritters at 3am" is inevitable!Hey, you guys scared of alligators?
cmatthes Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 I'm still trying to work that one out - scheduling may conflict. Working that out with Siobhan. I'd rather go sans keeeeeds!!!It ain't over 'til it's over!

dzeitlin Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 I'm seeing them both nights at The Orph in Boston, and at their warmup gig at Pearl Street in Northampton MA. Totally psyched about Marc coming back. I've seen them with Marc, and with Audley, and while I love Audley, I like the Crowes better with Marc.
bbobb24 Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 I saw them a couple times years ago, at the Tower In Philly. They put on one hell of a rock & roll show,Where are the Philly dates?
Buzzy Fretts Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 Those of you up in Hartford might want to keep an eye out for a reported gig by an unknown band named Mr Crowes Garden. Tell em Mr. Toads told you it'd be a good show.
Phloored Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 Those of you up in Hartford might want to keep an eye out for a reported gig by an unknown band named Mr Crowes Garden. Tell em Mr. Toads told you it'd be a good show. Yeah baby! Speaking of the crowes, I like em alright in a small venue so toads would be cool. I am psyched to see "Blue Floyd" on Friday the 11th.Look here for dates Interstellar overdrive One of these days Sheep (one of my favorite eras) Many more samples at the bottom of the in the flesh page here I like Audley as a guitarist and now that Jeff Pevar has replaced Marc Ford, I think Blue Floyd will be as much if not more of a trip.
