RacerX Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Up for grabs, my 89 USA Cali. Rare factory option Jim O'Connor marble graphic finish. This is NOT like the more standard black/grey granite finish, it is hand painted faux marble. Signed and dated 89 by Jim on the back. This guitar has a warmth and vibe (yikes!) you have to see in person to believe. Typical (slim but not super skinny) Cali neck, rosewood, dots, kinda rare reverse headstock. Plays great, not heavy, played condition some wear and checks and tiny nicks but with the finish you have to look to find stuff. No problems, repairs, or issues. Duncan strat and JB trembucker pups, Hamer/Floyd, black hamer tuners, nice blue gigbag. $1650.00 shipped cont/US Not really looking for trades, reluctantly sending a few to new homes for some Porsche cash! Here's a few old pix, looks a bit darker and warmer in person. nothing else for sale, just the marble cali...you know the drill. Thanks!!! Mark.
BubbaVO Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 That finish is awesome! Porsche cash? Parts or a new car altogether I wonder.
cmatthes Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I owned a beautiful '89 Marble Cali a lot like that one, but no reverse head, Boomers and mine had EMGs from the factory. One of the coolest guitars I ever sold and wished I had back! That's a really cool graphic that you have to see up close to appreciate - gold leaf veining in there and everything.
RacerX Posted May 21, 2008 Author Posted May 21, 2008 These are pretty rare guys, you won't regret it. Mark.
RacerX Posted May 28, 2008 Author Posted May 28, 2008 Bumpage from the depths of page 3... Canadian and Euro guys, since this comes with a gig bag and not a hard case, I could take it apart for easy and compact shipping... Mark.
Caddie Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 fwiw, Mark is a very good guy to do biz with. Been there, done it, would do it again. Up for grabs, my 89 USA Cali. silentman Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Me thinks if this one had boomers, you'd have a line a mile long. Very cool none the less. I'll stumble across another cali some day.
RacerX Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 Me thinks if this one had boomers, you'd have a line a mile long. Very cool none the less. I'll stumble across another cali some day. I think you are right about the boomers, but it does have a very "heavymetal" reverse headstock! I thought I priced it right for a factory graphic with dots...but maybe not? Mark.
RacerX Posted June 4, 2008 Author Posted June 4, 2008 Hellooooo out there..... ?????? These O'Connor factory custom finishes are super cool, and hard to find! Mark.
Yeahmann Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 They say timing is everything.seems ironic. . . reminds me of the time i dumped 25k in the stock market(the height of the tech bubble) I think i pulled 800 back out when it was all said and done. 12 months ago it seems you couldnt find a cali of any kind. . now you get one this cool and you can't give it away (i say give because at 1400 you arent even covering the original cost back in the day) I would buy it but i've bought quite a few guitars already this year and its time to exercise a little self control. either someone should buy this right now or i'd hold onto it until times are better. . . that's just too much guitar to give away imho.
Lew Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 What Yeahmann said, the value of Cali's or any "rare" or hard to get guitar is all about what someone will pay.I have a guy in america who contacted me through the gearpage, who said he bought a maple Cali elite for $2600!!! It's all about timing and finding the buyer that must have that guitar. Your guitar looks great and Im sure you will have np selling it.
LadyScary Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 You guys must really miss me buying Cali's...... No one to Witch at for buying them all!!! This is an awesome cali, if i hadn't finished my collection, i would be all over this one!!! I wish you luck with the sale!! and to whomever buys it, ENJOY!!!! Edit to add : I should have said Completed Mr.Scary's collection for now. Sorry
anotherfreak Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 " if i hadn't finished my collection, " some of us bitter, old, jealous guys are going to hold you to that! XOXOXOX
RacerX Posted September 9, 2008 Author Posted September 9, 2008 Let's try this again...before I change my mind... Doubt you will find a signed custom factory graphic for less. Cali's ROCK! Especially this one! Mark.
Jimbilly Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Great looking guitar! So, I 2nd the question; what do you mean by Porsche cash? You watching Hoosier for a tire sale too? or, a Limited slip fund????
RacerX Posted September 9, 2008 Author Posted September 9, 2008 Great looking guitar! So, I 2nd the question; what do you mean by Porsche cash? You watching Hoosier for a tire sale too? or, a Limited slip fund???? The new demanding misstress...1980 911SC in GrandPrix White Mark.
serial Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 This finish was a $600 upcharge just for the finish. This and the Celestial are my favorite graphics-they're really well done and pretty rare.
cmatthes Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 I had a Cali like Mark's, a Green Marble Chap V and a Snakeskin Chap. I'd love to have kept any one of those!
Russ Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Stunning guitar...I only have 3 things stopping me... 1) I just CAN'T play a guitar with a Floyd. 2) I don't have that kind of cash sitting idle. 3) "my" demanding mistress has been parked all year, needing some "attention"...(76 911S Targa)
RacerX Posted October 26, 2008 Author Posted October 26, 2008 Pre-election bump....all our problems will be over in a few days....rejoyce and buy yourself a nice guitar, you deserve it! Seriously, this one needs a new home, and I'd like to keep it in the family. Mark.
