Armitage Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Are the angles on that explorer different then a Standard or is it just pointier? I know the shoulder (by the neck pickup) is different...
serial Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Are the angles on that explorer different then a Standard or is it just pointier? I know the shoulder (by the neck pickup) is different...Yes. Gibson has been doing their Explorers "wrong" (too pointy) since the 80s. The "'76 Reissue" looks nothing like the original '76-79s, which look great to me. They should have just called it "the Explorer". I like the old 70s, 50s Gibson look, which is what Hamer cops better than Gibson.

BubbaVO Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Does anyone know where Ibanez sourced their mahogany (and other woods) from in the late 70s and early 80s? The more pics I see of them, the more impressed I am. How come these never took off in popularity?
