Guest pirateflynn Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Yeah, pretty rare color ... especially non-faded. . It's very close to the Ian Anderson color, if not the same.

Hamerphite Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 It was one of those handshake deals in a parking lot. Classic guitar trade. I didn't have a screwdriver as I didn't expect the guy to get back to me today. So all I could do was look for breaks in the wood and see if the finish looked original. I'll take a look under the hood tonight. I have it at work with me now. It's got a round chubby neck which I was glad to see.

santellavision Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Congrats!!Here's a quick parking lot story... I saw an ad in the local classified (This was about 20 years ago) for a black Strat w/50's pickups. I go meet the guy in a supermarket parking lot. (This is Colorado) and it turns out the guitar was one of Tommy Bolin's back-up strats. I owned it for about 15 years and went to sell it, I was contacted by Tommy's brother Johnny. He confirmed it was in fact Tommy's (Tommy's old guitar tech lives about 10 mins away from me in Evergreen, CO). He came over and we had beers and chatted for hours about the Tommy and the guitar! Way cool. Anyway, the family now has the guitar back and all is well in the world.
serial Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 I don't have a single clue as to why, but I'm excited to see what you got! Sounds cool and glad someone here snagged it! Shoot me the serial info and I'll get you the details from the log books on it.
hamertek98 Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Congrats! I don't think I've seen a green Studio before. Hope it all checks out good.
Hamerphite Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 I wont have a chance to turn any screws till tomorrow but here's a first look at the Green machine. Sounds and plays so good.
Guest pirateflynn Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Those very well could be the original pickups. The neck pickup has been turned around. That's a killer score ... congrats!
Hamerphite Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Serial is 0 1638. It took me a while to see it, but now I see that the back and sides are a very dark Green, which looks perfectly uniform under a black light - though the back of the neck is just slightly more faded than the body, as usual, and so appears oh so slightly more green. What a cool guitar! Aside from checking and a few dings, the guitar is really quite clean.
