sirDaniel Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 The room rental went up to $400 this year, so I'm thinking a $10 cover should do it.Any questions?I have a question... should we raise the donation? theres no way 40 people will come.Put your paypal email address up. That way we can start the donations flowing.H U N K 2009

BruceM Posted November 21, 2008 Author Posted November 21, 2008 Hey everyone, I appreciate the generous offers I've received so far. However, here are the facts. I have not paid any money yet for the hall rental. I will place a deposit there early next year. Until I have actually paid money out of my own pocket, I'd feel funny about accepting donations of any sort for this party. Rest assured, when the time comes, I'll come begging. In the meantime, here's another cool picture from the Golden Jam, and here's a link to the Hotel Minneapolis: The Hotel Minneapolis We want more of this!!!
BruceM Posted November 21, 2008 Author Posted November 21, 2008 I really would like to attend. Easiest would be to fly from Cleveland to MPLS but a roadtrip from Chicago would be cool but driving solo 13 hours from Cleveland is not going to happen. Why don't you just carpool with Butcher?
bubs_42 Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 BUMP!!! Getting excited, this will be my first HFC event !
robbie Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Getting excited, this will be my first HFC event ! I know I can speak for everyone here in MN, or coming here... we are looking forward to meeting you!! AMAZING guitars by the way!!
BruceM Posted January 19, 2009 Author Posted January 19, 2009 I called the Eagles Club again this afternoon to confirm the reservation. The room is booked, but they're pretty relaxed there, and he's still not worried about accepting any deposit money yet, so I'll not be accepting donations until that happens sometime in the next month.I did want to get this notification up again, because I've heard from a few people that are shopping around for flights. This is a go, folks!I'll start shopping around for a host hotel soon, too. And if you'd like to arrange host housing to save a few bucks, let me know. I don't know how many I can accomodate, but probably a few.
blackfbiv Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Yes this will be Legendary ! I vote for EPIC !!!
sirDaniel Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 oh FAWKING HELL.... Okay, AS PER USUAL, I'll be the first black cloud. Turns out, my daughter gets a lead in the Junior high production of "Ghost Chasers"; musical. And OF COURSE it's only for 1 weekend. and OF COURSE its April 17/18. and OF COURSE I'm the technical director of the dang thing. okay, get it over with.....
Bloozguy Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 and OF COURSE I'm the technical director of the dang thing. You've got plenty of time between now and then to train in a capable apprentice...break them in on Friday night so they can do it solo on Saturday
MCChris Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 and OF COURSE I'm the technical director of the dang thing.and OF COURSE you were the technical director of the Minneapolis jam. What's plan B for sound, Bruce? And yes, I'm still planning on attending. Jeffro has invited me down to Louisiana the following week, so rolling one event into the other sounds like a plan. Originally I thought the Louisiana thing was happening the week before the Minneapolis thing, which would effectively have eliminated me from the Minneapolis thing, because I fully expect to be deceased after the Louisiana thing.
robbie Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I think I can speak for Bruce in saying that we should have plenty of sound back-up opportunities for this event. I always considered Sir Dan more of a spiritual leader so that will be a little harder to replace. I won't pile on though, family is always first. you WILL be missed but we WILL rock on.
BruceM Posted January 30, 2009 Author Posted January 30, 2009 I'm bummed you won't be joining us, SirD. However, the show must go on! We've got plenty of PA equipment to fill the room, no doubt. And we've got plenty of musicians and friends to fill the space. Carry on !
BruceM Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 I've started checking around for a block of rooms. The Holiday Inn near the Mall of America that we used for the Golden Jam is nearly booked. It seems there's a volleyball tournament at the Convention Center that weekend, with most of the participants staying there. They were asking $139 per King for what few rooms were left, and I'm imagining that there will likely be a lot of girls in shorts all over the place. Hmmm. Before I make too many calls looking for a deal, I'd like to get a sense of who will be looking for a room. I've only heard from a couple of people so far that need accommodation, so perhaps I'll just suggest a couple of convenient downtown hotels and let you shop for your own rate. How many rooms will we need? If I have 5 or 6 people looking, it's probably worth reserving a block of rooms.
shredmeister Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Dan that really sucks that you can't make it - you are always such a GAS!BRUCE - are we going to have a practice jam like we did last time?
JohnnyThunders Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Ok Less than two months to go till the jam! Can’t wait!I’m interested in playing rhythm on a couple of songs for the jam if anyone else is interested. MC5’s Kick out the Jam’s. And of course the Stooges I Wanna Be Your Dog in memory of Ron Asheton who recently passed. Other potential Stooges songs are Search and Destroy, Loose, TV Eye or 1970. Or for you into esoteric Detroit bands Sonic's Rendezvous Band City Slang.

Bloozguy Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Do you think we should put together a list...not necessarily a "set" list, but a list of "stuff" just to keep things moving throughout the night? Anyone planning to record this? I have some fairly good microphones, a tube mic preamp and a digital recorder that I could set up for a simple stereo recording of the whole evening.

Hey Ray...if you want to record, go for it! I'm thinking we'll have a local pre-party in mid-March to work out a few tunes. I'll post details soon. There's a little bit of new information in post 1 on this thread. I'm looking forward to this one!
HamerHokie Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Live-feed webcam? Also, in the spirit of the board you should have a 'for sale' room and an 'off-topic' room for Obama discussions.
