Sam Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 For those who don't check the dealers every day here's an interesting new creation: (I like it, though I'd still prefer one of the original Classictrons. Anybody got one? )

That'll do. -Jonathan

Sam Posted March 1, 2009 Author Posted March 1, 2009 Frikkin have rotarry pickup selectors though! The chicken head makes it ok...
hamerhead Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 God that's nice.Axe the Bigsby and throw on a Sustain Block and we're all set.
Rhys Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Nice top. I was only saying to a fellow guitar bore the other day that you hardly ever see birdseye maple tops these days, which is a shame as I far prefer it to quilt.
anotherfreak Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 I can't think of ordering a newport with a maple top, but a spruce top, dual minibucker, dot board and maybe wraptail.............OHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhh....
BubbaVO Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 You do have an eye for sharp tops! That is so far out of my league...it's gorgeous. Hard to believe that the same company that came up with the P-90 Specials of the mid-nineties also came up with that guitar. Well...maybe its not the same company now that I think of it.
Sam Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 Spruce top, dual minibucker, dot board and maybe wraptail............. Bill, why not find yourself a stock Newport 90 and install the minbuckers of your choice? Same sized route as the P-90s. Spruce, dots, wraptail and double bound too! You do have an eye for sharp tops! It sure is a nice one - not on par with your hallowed piece of maple though. The great thing about birdseye is that you can order it sight unseen and have a better idea of how it's going to turn out. I'm picky about my flames - not so much with the BEs. Edit: Gotta have a photoshoot of that beauty some time.
fractal Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Has anyone found out a price?I doubt that I can afford it anyway, but I'm curious. That looks really nice...(I know I could call, I just thought I'd save them some time from a tire-kicker.)

fractal Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Ah, thanks. Looks like I won't be buying that one! It does look like a quite versatile beast. I'd love to get a Newport one day - maybe with the Duotone bridge.
Jorge Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 $4800 My modest guess? You will buy that, or something equivalent, for less than half. Ooops, I really meant: "much less than half".
