Wow... $1326.00

Yeah! Wow, somebody got a good price on it. Did anybody from the board pick it up?

Well it would have saved a bunch over a new one. Thats a kickass price!

Bubs, do you have a Studio Custom as well as a Standard? How would you compare a Studio vs. a Standard?

Never had the chance to play a Standard, but I love my SC.

Great shot.. I'm love Korina but i'm holding out for a 97 to go with my V.

IIRC, there weren't any 97's in the original run of 100. The original run was 95/96. I have Korina Standard number 097/100 and I took delivery in April 1996. Production shifted to Korina Vectors right before the move to Connecticut in late 1996 and early 97. The last Korina Vectors left Arlington Heights right before the doors closed. I believe the next Korina Standards that were built were the HFC 1 guitars. There may have been a custom order built in there somewhere but I don't remember one. I do remember some Korina Vectors built in New Hartford right after the move. They were not part of the original run.

THAT EBAY ONE WENT STUPID CHEAP! (yes I'm yelling). There will come a time when we all kick ourselves in the ass for not buying these up at these prices. If that said Gib$0n on the headstock it would have went for 4 times that. That Gibson logo is pricey.

I was actually biding on that, and I guess I should've listened to my gut and went the distance.

Sniped from under my nose last minute! :)

Sorry 'bout that, I didn't think I'd get it as I figured there'd be a bidding war at the end. Who knew? In this economy, maybe another one will come up at that price--but it won't be me selling it.

Tell me how she plays! I'm looking at another Standard now, but I want to know what I missed. I was just kinda afraid of the weight, 9.8 lbs is even heavier than my Monaco Elite.

I'm really hoping you have deep pockets, 'cause I could've gone a couple of hundred more on that thing :)

Huh? Last time I checked, the auction was over. Thanks for your concern in how deep my pockets are, though. :)

But seriously; I asked the same question about the weight, it didn't bother me. There's been a few Korina Standards advertised at some online sites/shops that topped 10 pounds.

It's here, and it's a good 'un! I'll have to A/B it with my other Standards this weekend. Weight is noticeable (9.8 pounds, over my other Korina Standard which is 7.2 pounds!) but more than tolerable. Funny thing is, is that I was shopping around for Korina Standard prices last November, when I got my first KS, and this was being sold by the same store I just got it from for well over a grand more (I still have the email)! I won't give out the name of the store, but the guitar is still up on their site--obviously not for long.

That suprises me about the weight. My Vector is Super Light. Most of my guitars weigh in at 8lbs. The Monaco is 8.5 and the Vector is just under 7lbs.

I think it just all depends! Wood weight is a bit of a crapshoot, you get what you get. Both of my Korina Standards (7.2 lbs and 9.8 lbs, respectively) sound and play great--this weekend I hope to get around and A/B them. You can surf online like I did with Hamer dealers and check out the varying weights on their Korina Standards, and other Standards, too. People say that Korina is light--that's true if you're talking about color, and even then only if it's white Limba, but not necessarily regards weight--they're all over the map weightwise, same goes for Mahogany or nearly any other wood.

I was kinda weight conscious too, but I guess if it weighs about the same as my Monaco they it shouldn't be a problem since the bigger body can distribute the weight more. I would've loved to play that Standard, but I guess it's all good since I found a few other interesting ones. Oh well, as one door closes...
