SteveB Posted March 7, 2005 Posted March 7, 2005 Having a seperate board for sales will be a detriment to sellers, since people who arn't really looking won't check the for-sale board and won' be subject to a sudden unexpected GAS attack which could lead to a sale. OTOH, thats a benefit to those of us who really don't need more guitars and the temptation to buy them.

I know, I know, not idiot proof.I agree, keep it simple. Too many threads to follow on some other popular BBSs. Focus remember is HAMERs, followed by boobies&beer and buying stuff. I have always been from the keep it in one place camp but as the poll shows the people have spoken and here it is. I've been trying to get my next new feature working right. hopefully you guys will like whats coming next.

It seems that the supporters are being segregated. Again, not trying to cause problems, just asking a question.

John E Posted March 8, 2005 Posted March 8, 2005 I find that whenever I visit a forum that has several different sub-sites, the first thing I do his hit the "read new posts" button so I don't have to click a bunch of different categories just to catch up. For a forum that's a bit slower (in the sense that it has fewer posts on a given day than, say, the LP Forum), I strongly prefer to have just a single category. I don't even like to have the "off-topic" stuff in the "outer circle." I kinda liked it when the off-topic stuff was interspersed among the squarely Hamer-related things. Hell . . . it used to be how I got most my news!

But for example, a section for discussing non-Hamer guits and such...its a little much..like everything else...I just see it as another step in the process that has become the United States of the Offended...skins tend to run a little too thin..not just here but everywhere these days.I've read that the moderators would wish to moderate as little as possible and I realize that from time to time...e.g. flame wars..that they must step in..but having to compartmentalize ever little thing...where and when does it stop....I personally find boards with all these different section a pain.One of the things that has alway appealed to me about the HFC over others is its free-ness...its alway been just a little different than anywhere else...it felt comfy..like a great old t-shirt that the girlfriend keeps telling you to throw away, but you can't cause its broken in...it feels good.

I'd rather have just two sections. The Outer Circle would be kept for "adult" (some would consider juvenile) subjects and the regular forum for everything else including off topic posts.I can understand that Hamer probably doesn't like the posts showing off other brands, but then the question becomes whether this is a user sponsored board or a company board. Or maybe a combination of the two?
