I'm new here...

I'm a vet of the FDP, TDPRI, and Weber Boards. I recently bought an Arlington Heights built Eclipse, and while that particular guitar wasn't for me, I was VERY impressed with the quality and reasonable price on used USA Hamers. I sold it to a local Chicago HFC member, Matt.

I'm now in the market for a Special or similar guitar with P-90's, but humbuckers will be a 2nd choice.

I prefer a chunkier neck...were there particular years or specific models that have a beefier neck than others???

One of my company's locations that I work out of is a few doors down from the old Hamer factory in Arlington Height's! That's why I'm kinda partial to those years.

When I drive by it, I can only imagine all the action and cool visitors who crowded those doors.... sad to see it gone :D

Welcome.

I too used to visit the Arlington Heights location. It was a cool place and I was found the staff entertaining. There are a boat load of the mid 90's P-90 Specials around. I have seen some with pretty good size necks.

Better yet. Custom order one. The guys in CT are doing fantastic stuff and I am sure you will be just as impressed with their quality.

Look forward to seeing your new Hamer (or new to you Hamer? :D

Welcome. I am told they are out there!!! I am looking for one right now as well and am trying to be very patient. I have three other new Hamers to keep me patient. They are all great guitars.

Hey Bill,

Welcome to the HFC!! You sold off your Eclipse and you want a Special w/ P-90s or humbuckers? Check out our For Sale section of our messageboard. Quite a few of the guys will put up their guitars for sale here before it hits E-bay. They all have good references and are honest people. You won't have to wait around for a Special too long. I've seen quite a few of them already. If I didn't have my '95 Studio or '96 Les Paul Custom, I would have bought the FM Special. Good luck on your search!!

Welcome!

They ARE out there. I made the mistake of passing on a stellar P-90 Special with a big beefy neck a few years ago - for $450. Rubbing salt in the wounds was the fact that it was the same "flip/flop" blue-green as my Eclipse XII.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Dude. A Chicago avatar? Right on! I'm on a Chicago kick BIG TIME!

Yep, Terry Kath was the man...sadly, they haven't been the same since he died.

I hear ya. I downloaded a bunch of stuff on iTunes. Lowdown rocks!

I'm the local HFC'er who bought the Eclipse from Bill. +1 for him; great guy to deal with and I LOVE the guitar! I was cruising through the old For Sale posts on here and on The Gear Page and this guitar has been making the rounds lately. No more! I've been buying Hamers for 13 years and have yet to sell one.

Hey Matt, thanks for the good words. Here's something sick in the Gearhound's World...I followed that guitar, as you did, and I know the original owner...Stef Clemente. We have done a few deals going several years back...it IS a small world. Glad you're digging it. I think it finally found a home.

That is one sweet Eclipse. I bought it NOS before selling it to Jack. The body is a very nice piece of wood.

Welcome aboard to both of you. It's nice to know the Chicago HFC contingent is growing. We may yet pass up the Columbus HFC Army. LOL
