Saturday July 11th, I'll be joining James Curley & Radio Fade for a stripped down acoustic-oriented, more intimate show at Uncommon Ground on Devon in Edgewater. Michael and Helen Cameron's Restaurant/Listening Room/Organic Food showcase is the perfect place to end a steamy Saturday in the Windy City. With a great menu, microbrew beers, and very comfortable setting, ya can't go wrong. The music starts at 930pm, so it's strongly suggested you entertain the idea of reservations for dinner at 8 in the music room and then hang there for the music; but if you have earlier plans, just come out for the music. Is the shar lar lounge still around there? Yep, the Uncommon Ground is just a couple of blocks South and West of Loyola U. Carmie and I met while she attended Loyola and I lived down the street from her apartment. Wow, that was many years ago... I don't think I've even heard the name Shar Lar Lounge in a long time. That really takes me back too.

DavidE Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Filling in Wednesday night for my singer and drummer's regular Wednesday gig. It's usually and acoustic guitar with the trio (no bass), but I'll take the duotones and do the hybrid thing.Friday: Private acoustic gig at a yacht club on Lake Erie 2.5 hours away. After we were hired and canceled a local gig to play this, they decided it's a 50's theme party. We play maybe 4 songs from the 50's and told the agent and the club manager when she called. I'm dreading it a little, but I bought a multi CD set of 50's songs from Walmart plus the ones I already have and put almost 4 hours of 50's tunes on my iPod to try and please these people. I'd rather they just cancel us now and pay us what we lost from the local gig. We'll see. It could turn out ok. But fuck them. If they wanted a 50's band, they should have hired one. We'll do what we can.Saturday: Full band back at our home bar where we've been gone for two months due to scheduling issues. Unfortunately, our drummer is on the road with Saving Jane and we have a sub. He did ok last month, but we won't be at our best. Argh..... Our two subs who would kill it with us can't make it. We'll have fun anyway.Sunday: A friend is holding an all day festival at his place in the country. Lots of bands playing and I'm expected to go jam. You don't have to ask me twice... ;-)
