Pieman Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 This is on eBay. The seller says they were installed at the Hamer factory, so this must have been somebody's baby.Any thoughts as to what they would be like. I will go look at the WCR website. The term "shredders" may be a turn off. What's a fair price for this guitar? Shipping is way high from western Canada. ThanksStandard with WCR Shredders
murkat Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 call, email Waggs (Jim) about the pup set, he will surprise you. Good people, know him, consider him a friend. He might even remember the deal. Not uncommon that Hamer will install what is sent to them. thats alot of coin for a nice standard thou... no?
DaveL Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 he took some really nice shots and presented it well... I don'tthink he'll get a whiff at the BIN number... but I wish him luck.

Thanks Standard with WCR Shredders That's my old guitar. It's one I sold when my Mother died. The pickups, and the electronics are both changed. I bought the guitar from Willcutt guitars and it's a very nice guitar. The Shredder pickups are just a hand wound version of the JB/Jazz set that WCR did for RS Guitarworks. I sold the guitar a year ago for $1600 I believe.
Pieman Posted December 10, 2009 Author Posted December 10, 2009 Thanks for the info, everybody. Those p/ups do not seem to be a standard offering from WCR at this time. Thanks for the photo Roy. t
Joe G Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 I e-mailed the seller a few months ago, the last time he put it up for sale, and he wrote back saying that he is asking what he is into the guitar for and the price is high because he had to pay taxes when it shipped to Canada.
Pieman Posted December 10, 2009 Author Posted December 10, 2009 Taxes? What about NAFTA? I did not think there were cross-border taxes on these kinds of sales. Anybody? This is not the first time it has been up for sale.

Anybody? This is not the first time it has been up for sale.Yeah, you do have to pay a charge when you get something when you are a Canadian getting stuff from the States. I don't know how they do it exactly, if it's a percentage of stated value or weight or whatever. When I got some pickups shipped to me, they were valued at $200USD, and I had to pay about $30 Can in taxes. I paid a lot more when I got a guitar, but that was because it was shipped by UPS, and they tack on a big brockerage fee.I don't know how NAFTA fits into all of this, the fees don't make trade any easier, that's for sure.
Hamerica Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Yeah there are taxes. NAFTA doesn't mean a thing to retail or the end users paying the tax. Hamerica
cspot Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Just noticed this is in my neck of the woods. If I can be of any assistance to anyone lemme know.Dont know this seller though, but think hes been on craigslist and kijiji up here.
dgstandard Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 A guitar is subject to 12% tax in British Columbia (PST & GST) but only 5% in Alberta (no PST). Plus factor in shipping, brokerage fees and foreign exchange, the increase in cost over the purchase price can be significant. Not my guitar but I wish it was! Can't swing it though.
Joe G Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Not completely certain that it is the same guitar, but it looks like it is for sale at a lower price here:http://cgi.ebay.com/2005-Hamer-standard-cu...=item3efbffaeaa
