phantomgt Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 This is an old pic, and many of you may have seen it before, but I just recently rediscovered it and thought it was kinda funny.A scalloped Gibson V, with a Strat trem, and 3 DiMarzio HS3's.Maybe he was going for a Gibson Malmsteen model endorsement? LOLhttp://www.yngwie.org/gallery/images/FlyingV.jpg
MCChris Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 a Strat trem That looks like a very early Floyd sans the fine tuners.
Guest teefus2 Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 not to be too much of a d*ck but i don't think his fingers have touched wood unless it is part of a buffet.
phantomgt Posted July 28, 2005 Author Posted July 28, 2005 UPDATE....The trem actually looks like an EARLY Floyd Rose, or an old Rockinger trem.Either way, it's odd looking.
darc Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Not sure that's a strat trem. It's got little Floyd-y bits on it, though it's much smaller.Actually looks like something Glenn Tipton might play.(Ha. i think we posted at the *exact* same time.)
phantomgt Posted July 28, 2005 Author Posted July 28, 2005 Actually looks like something Glenn Tipton might play. Hey now.... don't be hatin' on my boy.... lol ;-)j/kTipton DOES have a tendency to play screwy designed guitar bodies, though. After the Phantoms, I guess he got on this pointy can opener looking kick. Oh well...I still love the guy's playing though.... so I can deal with the lack of fashion sense for his guitars.Maybe we need a Q.E. for the GUITAR guy intervention? LOL
MCChris Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Yeah, but these days he mostly scallops potatoes. LOL
Guest teefus2 Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Yeah, but these days he mostly scallops potatoes. nice one. i was trying to tie the scallop thang in.
serial Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Looks like one of the early Floyds-like Chris done said.
MCChris Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Yeah, but these days he mostly scallops potatoes. nice one. i was trying to tie the scallop thang in. I was gonna say, "perhaps he should pass on the drawn butter with his scallops."Ah, Yngwie fat jokes. Among life's simple pleasures!
SirDouglas Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 haha its Cows Milk White /moo wonder if hes playing Santa this year? Sir Douglas Randy
phantomgt Posted July 28, 2005 Author Posted July 28, 2005 I shoulda known better than to open an Yngwie thread in here....
straightblues Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Thank God he did that to a Gibson instead of a Hamer!!!!
silentman Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 I saw him use a V on the 7th Sign tour. He used it for the song Pyramid of Ceops which is down tuned. I don't remember if it had a trem on it.
darc Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 Definitely not hatin' on Tipton, GT. I love his playing too. But recently someone posted a bunch of Priest pics and I think Tipton was playing a Vector with a scalloped board in one of them. (It's true, darc very nearly posted w/ Hamer content!)
Jeff R Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 That is definitely an early non-fine-tuner Floyd Rose bridge, even though there is no locking nut installed.
darc Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 "Downing has a scalloped Vector."50/50 have always been losing odds for me...
Guest big steve Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 how is this done anyway, they scallop the board after the frets are installed right?it must be a bear to replace frets on one of those, especialy on the higher frets.but i guess if he isn't really putting alot of pressure on there, they dont have any wear?
BCR Greg Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Has anyone mentioned that there is a non fine tuner Floyd on that POS?
kurtsstuff Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Scalloped,Schmalloped.....I like my taters mashed
Stike Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 In a Homer Simpson voice, bacon wrapped scallops mmmmmmmmmm.
Cheap Chick Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Didn't he play Augustus Gloop in the off-Broadway Meedly Meee version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?
earachemyeye Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 I just read an interview with George Lynch in VG last night. He comments on his recent tour with Ingvee (yes) and his lack of basic human decency, says he'll never tour with him again. During the last show, they bought stale donuts for the audience to pitch at him. He also mentioned something about a plane rage recording. Link anyone? Joe
