serial Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Oh-this one again...;P it IS unusual in that it is a four digit Vector. At least it wasn't described as "mint and pristine", but it doesn't look from the pics to be "pristine". Maybe he's outsourcing his ad copy to Florida...
cmatthes Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 This guy is also trying to trade on the history of a band nobody outside of his county has ever heard of.That guitar is simply not worth what he thinks he should get for it. Hope he likes it, because he'll be keeping it for a good long time at that price.
BCR Greg Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 There is a split between the Floyd bolts in the back of the head. Not good.
BCR Greg Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Forgive my candor, but I kinda know what I am looking at, thanks.
zorrow Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 The guitar doesn't look bad at all, but "pristine" is a heavy word. The "four digits" thing is unusual, but has no actual value IMHO.The factory Floyd is an interesting feature on that model."Macabre" is too obscure as a band to be considered a plus. All that said, maybe his guitar is worth just slightly above one grand... or maybe the 1.8K he's asking for it is not that crazy after all. I mean, for a collector, a price around 1.5K could even be a fair price, because that's a rare item anyway. However, when you see it with a pragmatic/aesthetic eye, it's way overpriced, yes. There is a split between the Floyd bolts in the back of the head. Not good.Yes. That's a problem --and no, it's not a glare.
mirrorimij Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 In my mind the fact that this one is a four digit means nothing. In my opinion its a production model (not built by John Montgomery) and should not be held in the same regard as other four digits.Shouldn't there be paint inside those holes for the Floyd bolts?
BCR Greg Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Yup.When a Floyd guitar has the headstock flex from aggressive trem use or a compromised headstock, the paint tends to release from the cavities, since they are not surface prepped as well.
zenmindbeginner Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I'm obviously not questioning your experience Greg. The guy's pics are like glare city... he stood too close and the glare looked like a reflection of the ceiling lights to me. I didn't mean any harm man, you know that I bow to you Greg...
Submariner85 Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 I remember seeing that one before because of the long story attached. He sure liked to use his whammy.
cmatthes Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 He's only been trying to sell that one for a year or so.I don't think he's trying very hard.I think more people have heard of "Macabre" because of that auction than actually heard of the band...
doody Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Some has to have the Pic of his hold this guitar from the last auction with the maniacal grin. IIRC someone added WHY? to it.
