Camstone Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Greetings Hamerians! Just joined the club! I've been a Hamer player since the late seventies. Used to work in the retail music business, sold Hamers '78 through '85. First one was a '77 crowned and bound Sunburst, then ordered a Standard in '81. Both are now unfortunately long gone. Now playing a gorgeous Artist Custom that I bought new from Guitarczar in Salt Lake City a few years back. I've also got a flamey mid eighties Vector.I am in the market right now for a USA Duotone. Anyone have one that they are looking (or willing) to part with? I'm also considering buying a Monaco Superpro. The reviews on Harmony Central pretty much consistantly say that the neck pickup needs to be replaced cause it's too hot. Anybody out there that owns one and can comment? Thanks!
silentman Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 Welcome. This could solve both your requests at once: check out elduave's store. He had a VERY reasonable price on it.

jpr531 Posted August 23, 2005 Posted August 23, 2005 That would be me. I was actually in for an amp but that guitar was very tempting.Agree 100% what Chris said above. The ebony on the tuner tips is nice classy touch. Very light and the finsh is exceptional. Finally got to meet Dave and he IS really a great great guy.Give him a call, you'll see.JPR
Camstone Posted August 23, 2005 Author Posted August 23, 2005 Thanks for all the info! Talked to Dave at Rocketeria and just need to figure out if I can afford a new instrument (as opposed to pre-owned). Anyway, great guy, enjoyed talking to him. That Black Monaco Superpro with Duotone electronics sounds like a real one-of-a-kind. He ordered it with a satin finish! If I wake up screaming tonight, in a cold sweat, I'll know It was meant to be mine.
Jack C Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Buy Elduave's Monotone! That guitar is so cool and a true one-off.
atquinn Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 I know I wouldn't like it (can't deal with the LP body style), but DAMN, that Monotone just looks so RIGHT!-Austin
BCR Greg Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 If you can't swing that guitar(and you really SHOULD get it cuz it's BAD ASS!!!!), look here....http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4373The Monotone is killer.
elduave Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Buy Elduave's Monotone! That guitar is so cool and a true one-off. Hey Jack-Does that mean you finally came around to the finish on your 12ver? I certainly dug it!

Jack C Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Buy Elduave's Monotone! That guitar is so cool and a true one-off. Hey Jack-Does that mean you finally came around to the finish on your 12ver? I certainly dug it!Unfortunately, no. I still love a good trans-black when done right, but mine's just too muddy. It sounds great. I'd love to get it refinished someday. With the Monotone, however, it looks like they nailed the finish.
marcnorth Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 Heres a nice looking one on ebay.http://cgi.ebay.com/Hamer-USA-DuoTone-Outs...1QQcmdZViewItem
saxmanjack Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 I still can't justify keeping the 2000 Duo-Tone Custom I recently got from another board member. Like new in jazzburst with phat-cats...[email protected]
Camstone Posted August 24, 2005 Author Posted August 24, 2005 Thanks marcnorth,That's exactly what I was looking for. I got it! I appreciate the tip!!!
HamStd Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 If that's the thread for Peter's green DuoTone, that's the one I was going to suggest. thanks for the support Brian.. I have this one for sale if you are interested. One of four done in TransGreen. 9/10 condition, no repairs/modifications or issues. Email me at [email protected] Thanks Peter.
Camstone Posted August 24, 2005 Author Posted August 24, 2005 Well that didn't take long! That's what I was hoping to find, a '59 Burst Duotone. Every guitar I own is a sunburst finish (except my Taylor). I bought ithe Duo this morning with "Buy It Now" for $799. Now I'll start stashing the cash away for a used Superpro. The Monotone is beautiful, but out of my budget cause it's new. Thanks for all the leads!!CN
elduave Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 I got it! Good one Cam. Great price. Remember we need some pics of your current slew!
