BTMN Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Couldn't help but chuckle earlier. Lil before Zorrow posted about playing his Camo Vector, I had gotten this lil piece of '80s rawk fun out. Oh What Fun indeed.... BTW his thread lacked a fundamental component, guitar pronage..... '86 Hamer Scepter..... Tippy loves to RAWK!!! Duncan Distortion and Pearly Gates neck are a sweet combo in this. Scepters anyone? Post them up!!! Cant forget the great RS Guitarworks wiring kit including pots, and one of the BIG Gold Jensen oil filled caps. It just makes the electronics sound so much smoother and more...... Well More!
BTMN Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 So Serial Steve, any guesstimate on Scepter production numbers? I was surprised to read that FBs number around 50.
veatch Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 And it goes to 11! Always loved those guitars. Tried one at a store new in the late 80's. I was a starving musician at the time, so it never happened. It completely blew away everything else i was trying: Charvel / Jackson, B.C. Rich, etc. (though that wasn't exactly a good time for BC Rich...) Ended up with a Charvel 6, which was my number 1 for lot of years. Ah, memories... Great pics, and i love the name.
specialk Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Great pics, and i love the name. +1 Of all the pointy guitars out there, the Scepter is my all time fave. And I'm not even a big fan of pointys, but I still drool over 'em! More pics please, people!
sledhead44 Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Duncan Distortion and Pearly Gates neck are a sweet combo in this. Glad to hear that. That's what I'm putting in my Standard when fundages allow.

Steve Haynie Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I had this one. It went to DavidB, then to another HFC'er. The Floyd is what turned me off, but the neck and the natural resonance are perfect.
Ted Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Great looking guitars, and yes, I too love Those Boomers very much!
David B Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 I had this one. It went to DavidB, then to another HFC'er. The Floyd is what turned me off, but the neck and the natural resonance are perfect. I miss it!
Rodan Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 I had this one. It went to DavidB, then to another HFC'er. BTMN Posted December 26, 2010 Author Posted December 26, 2010 Hey Serial, any idea on Scepter production numbers? Once again I got this guitar out of the case today and got that rush that comes from a great sounding guitar. This one is a beater in appearance but sounds like a new Hamer should. I get a feeling of disbelief when I play it that it sounds so cool for a nearly 25 year old guitar with the tip broke off. Love to hear some shredder licks from it with the trem unblocked and more skilled hands than mine. Even knocking anywhere on it, the chirp heard is toneful. Not "cluncky" sounding as opposed to a "ting" to it. I know it's just the microphonic pickups huh? Fun! Much Love once again to all I got parts from for Tippy and Mr. Hamstd for the core unit. Ben Chafin put it together for me. Anyway felt like a good excuse for a Scepter appreciation bump. Where are some of the others?
specialk Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 This guy must be a member her, with all the Hamer's he owns:http://mypeoplepc.com/members/thardawg/robonline/id20.htmlAnyway, there's a tuxedo Scepter just like yours, Gene.
BTMN Posted December 26, 2010 Author Posted December 26, 2010 He is a Duncan board member. His is 24 frets, mine is 22.
specialk Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 His is 24 frets, mine is 22. Okay, yeah, but does his go to eleven?
marcnorth Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I had this one. It went to DavidB, then to another HFC'er. The Floyd is what turned me off, but the neck and the natural resonance are perfect. Looks like the color scheme on my 85 Blades Bass, Lavender with Fuschia. Most people hated the color but I thought it was cool looking. Edit to add, The Lavender in this pic is faded and yellowed from all the dives I used to play in. Also not my pic as I don't own this one any longer but when it was new the color looked like the Scepter.

serial Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 So Serial Steve, any guesstimate on Scepter production numbers? I was surprised to read that FBs number around 50. No idea, but a lot more than 50. A hundred or two easy I'd think. They replaced the Standard as the top of the Hamer line in 1986.
