atquinn Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Is there any chance this is really stock? Seems like running strings through on a wraptail would tend to result in the bridge tilting over time?http://www.ebay.com/itm/HAMER-USA-ECLIPSE-SEYMOUR-DUNCAN-MINI-S-TONEPROS-POSTS-STRING-THROUGH-BODY-TONE-/300719394683?pt=Guitar&hash=item460445cf7b#ht_2742wt_1288-Austin
kizanski Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Is there any chance this is really stock? Seems like running strings through on a wraptail would tend to result in the bridge tilting over time?-AustinLink.I've never seen that before, but I can tell you that I've seen the posts on wrap tail bridges start to lean toward the nut on some old Gibson Juniors. I don't see that happening with this guitar's layout. As for it being stock: It sure looks like the string ferrules were drilled before the finish was applied and far too aligned to have been done by hand (and by "by hand" I mean with a drill press, one at a time). That looks like it was done by a CNC. So, I'd guess that it was stock. Now the question as to WHY it was done is anybody's guess.
unfun75 Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Seller is obsessed with 4's. Check out username, starting bid, and shipping. As for the guitar, the seller states this: "The original owner told us he ordered it from Hamer with a similar String-Through-Body Ferrule configuration found on the 12-string Eclipse model for more sustain, resonance and tone..."
FrankieIII Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 It's a stock custom order as stated by the seller. That setup provides WAY more stability than any TOM/stop setup.

crunchee Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Those tailpiece mounting studs ARE TonePros, right? Funny how there's nothing said about that. Unless they were available in '96, I'd suspect that part was a retrofit, Even so, those studs were definitely not standard equipment for a '96 Eclipse, IMO.As far as the the string-through comparison with a Eclipse 12 goes, funny that the seller doesn't mention that half the strings on the 12 are top loaded.Lotsa blather in the selling points, as Austin and Kiz have pointed out. I LOVE this quote, as it isn't exactly my idea of a selling point:'I've had this thing for about 7 years, and you can tell when you look at it that it has gone to hell and back, but it keeps asking for more!'
murkat Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 the string ferrules are recessed into the body.... Not a Hamer thing (that I have ever seen)Yes, tone pros locking stud mounts.
cynic Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 'I've had this thing for about 7 years, and you can tell when you look at it that it has gone to hell and back, but it keeps asking for more!'That doesn't apply to the guitar for sale, it's just some random comment pasted from Harmony Central.

vicjoy1945 Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Hey guys !!I'm very new to the Hamer "family" and fan club. I did notice this guitar and I was sorely tempted to bid on this one but I don't really know enough about em. I'm kinda regretting not going for it but I figure there's always another prospect just around the corner.I was just curious to see if anyone here picked it up !?!Vicp.s. So new that this is my first post...check it out !!
Jason01 Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Welcome to the club vic. Hold on to your wallet, they're like potato chips, you can't stop at one.
vicjoy1945 Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Welcome to the club vic. Hold on to your wallet, they're like potato chips, you can't stop at one. Thanks !! I'm the new kid on the block and really appreciate the "welcome" !! I have a Hamer (my first electric too) and I'm completely hooked....I'm a nubie player as well and really lovin it !!Vic
cynic Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 The spacing issue between the B and G strings and the recessed ferrules as pointed out by Murkat made the "factory string thru" story seem unlikely.I considered bidding if it had stayed low enough, and would have just strung it like a normal wrap tail so the spacing wouldn't have been an issue, but it went a little higher than I cared to pay.
django49 Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Yep, at a lower price, some interest here.....But the open question(s) and lack of a case suggested looking elsewhere.

Hamer Dave Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Still trying to figure out. My higher max bid didn't get this? Was out of town. Was diggin' the color.
cynic Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Still trying to figure out. My higher max bid didn't get this? Was out of town. Was diggin' the color. It's a good thing, cause you've got a Firebird to buy!

Hamer Dave Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 So what was the dealio on this one? Was it ended earlier? I understand, if someone made a nice offer, just wondering.
vicjoy1945 Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 So what was the dealio on this one? Was it ended earlier? I understand, if someone made a nice offer, just wondering. I don't think the auction was ended early...I think it ran its course. I was watching the auction for a couple of days including its final day so knew it was ending that evening...I just didn't get home in time to see it close.

I was watching the auction for a couple of days including its final day so knew it was ending that evening...I just didn't get home in time to see it close. No, it ended early. I had a considerably larger max bid, and it didn't even process. Response was that it had been ended early. That would explain why it didn't execute. Just looking for an explanation why it didn't process, and that would be logical.
cynic Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 It did, but it didn't.The auction as originally listed on 1 June was scheduled as a 7 day auction to end on 8 June. The seller changed the duration to a 5 day auction on 2 June, less than 24 hours later.Nothing else over the last 4 days of the listing ever changed. The auction ended normally on 6 June.If you made a bid that did not process it wasn't due to anything the seller did.

Wonder why they'd make it shorter, 'less they had some bills to pay? So it was a sort of technical hiccup. Well, both the seller, and I lost out on it. That's ok, 'cuz the 'bird' is on it's way. Though, they would have looked nice together. So, who got it?
