Prince residency in Chicago

Speaking of his largesse, I don't know his policy these days, but in the '80s he'd buy up rows and rows of front center concert seats and give'em away to underprivileged kids. Yet he was taking heat for not wanting to be in the "We Are The World" video. For all his flamboyance, he doesn't wear his generosity on his sleeve.

I didn't know that about him. I have much more respect for him now. Thought he was one of those guys who never thought of anyone but himself and his next conquest.

One of the most complete packages in the history of popular music...some would say he's even better than Taylor Swift :)

Come on, Taylor can almost sing in key and strum a guitar at the same time. I mean, how many people can do that?

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I will always hate him......He's gimmicky, weird, feminine, famous, creative.........my wife went out to see him on a night that I was gigging and said "BEST show EVAH" and "Honey, don't take this wrong, but, he's a better guitar player than you are.......he's better than EVERYBODY"

I hate him. (not)

And this one....his mastery on guitar is epic IMO:

Really channeling his inner Carlos Santana on that first tune with Sheila E. isn't he?

Edited to add; You'll have to decide for yourself if that's a good thing

Well, it's a good thing when Prince does it.

Yes. Epic is the word.

Every time I see a Prince clip (I've never had the pleasure of seeing him live), I watch it knowing full well that he is a supreme badass, and he still makes me say "Wow." As if I'm surprised at how much of a full on bad ass rock star stud he is.

He's THAT good.

He was on the cover of Kerrang! too! Saw him at 930 Club DC, kinda didn't get it, but it was super late and we were super tired (surprise after party show-we were at the venue already for Veruca Salt/Local H.). There is a Prince LP in the loving room this thread makes me want to hear. Loved the SB halftime. Kevin Smith does a great monologue about working with him.

That video with Kevin Smith is extremely interesting, and funny as hell. It certainly gives you a glimpse into a world not many of us are able to experience.

Prince is on my top five fave guitarists list (and top 3 all time overall musician/artist list). Saw him the first time on the "Dirty Minds" tour (leggings, trenchcoat and all), and then every tour after that until "Love Sexy". The "1999" tour was probably my fave, both The Time & Vanity Six opened and all of them were in top form.

You want a song that shows the rawkin' PR Nelson at his guitar raunchiest?
