q's about money orders

so I sent one, person tells me that their bank says "it is not a valid acct #" is this possible? I sent a M/O from my bank, I don't do this very often and I don't know when I am being dicked around. do I just ask for the M/O back?

If you bought the M/O from your bank you're being dicked around. Ask for it back...and run like hell.

If it is a money order you purchased at your bank, yes, ask for it back.

Edited to add: there is a scam going these days where bank money orders are being counterfeited - loads of money being lost with that - but in this case, you are the sender and know the money order isn't a fake. The recipient isn't being truthful with you.

It's hard not to let my "i want this guitar" mindset to cloud my judgement, I can't really do anything until tomorrow. so hopefully this will all work itself out. Gotta have faith right, people are good. I still want the guitar

Use USPS money orders, and send them Priority mail with tracking. This also gives an added layer of incentive, since mail fraud is a felony.

Money orders = cash to the Payee

That's the point (and the danger).

The best the bank can do is let you know (and provide proof) if the MO is successfully cashed.

Maybe there's a member nearby that you can offer to have pick up the MO and complete the transaction?

I told them to wait 'till Monday, and I wanted Tracking #'s

I think we're ok on this, it was more of a "lack of communication" A good phone call was all I really needed/wanted in the end
