anotherfreak Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 so I sent one, person tells me that their bank says "it is not a valid acct #" is this possible? I sent a M/O from my bank, I don't do this very often and I don't know when I am being dicked around. do I just ask for the M/O back?
Bloozguy Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 If you bought the M/O from your bank you're being dicked around. Ask for it back...and run like hell.
velorush Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 If it is a money order you purchased at your bank, yes, ask for it back.Ray beat me to it!Edited to add: there is a scam going these days where bank money orders are being counterfeited - loads of money being lost with that - but in this case, you are the sender and know the money order isn't a fake. The recipient isn't being truthful with you.
Turdus Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Might cost you a few bucks, but wonder if your bank can put a hold on the MO, until you get it worked out?
anotherfreak Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 I thought of that, but I didn't get "notified" until after my bank closed. I'm on that in the morning, Thanks for the input so far if anyone else has some light to shed, shine on!!!!!!!!!!!!
anotherfreak Posted March 26, 2013 Author Posted March 26, 2013 It's hard not to let my "i want this guitar" mindset to cloud my judgement, I can't really do anything until tomorrow. so hopefully this will all work itself out. Gotta have faith right, people are good. I still want the guitar
DaveH Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Use USPS money orders, and send them Priority mail with tracking. This also gives an added layer of incentive, since mail fraud is a felony.
anotherfreak Posted March 26, 2013 Author Posted March 26, 2013 "Use USPS money orders, and send them Priority mail with tracking. velorush Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Can't put a hold on a money order. Money orders = cash to the PayeeThat's the point (and the danger).
cynic Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 The best the bank can do is let you know (and provide proof) if the MO is successfully cashed. Maybe there's a member nearby that you can offer to have pick up the MO and complete the transaction?
anotherfreak Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 Ok, I guess his bank screwed something up and now everythings fine. I definately want the guitar(too much prolly ) I got my "faith in humanity" T-shirt goin' on. peace, love, and understanding! Thanks for the hints and comments!

anotherfreak Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 I told them to wait 'till Monday, and I wanted Tracking #'s I think we're ok on this, it was more of a "lack of communication" A good phone call was all I really needed/wanted in the end Trust me I'll post an update
anotherfreak Posted April 6, 2013 Author Posted April 6, 2013 I gotta start listening to myself, and those little voices
Armitage Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Can't you declare a Money Order lost and cancel it?
anotherfreak Posted April 8, 2013 Author Posted April 8, 2013 Got it all taken care of!http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/topic/59383-ngd/
blackfbiv Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 I gotta start listening to myself, and those little voices Well so far so good... hope it works out 100% As for the voices.. it really depends on just what they're suggesting I think...
