Guest Hanna Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 I Just recently purchased a couple of prototypes and one standard and they sure look different from the guitars on this site...If anybody knows what little details to look for, that would help a bunch!<3
JohnnyB Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 It's interesting to see a newcomer's take on all this. Is there a company with a more confusing "system" of guitars? T-62s, Phantoms and then Phantoms, Daytonas, Sunbursts, Prototypes, Standard Customs, Specials... then Slammer Series, Hamer Slammer Pickups, Slammer by Hamer... it seems as if every two years the company would try to come up with a new brand and model architecture that made slightly more sense than the one before. Hanna, if it says USA in tiny letters after HAMER, it's made in USA. If it says HAMER or HAMER SLAMMER SERIES it was made in Korea and the model may be a Korean version of a USA or it may be a model that was only made in Korea. If it says HAMER and then "XT Series" on the truss rod cover, it was Indonesian. If it says SLAMMER, run away. But if it says HAMER/Slammer Series, it's the best of the Korean-made Hamers. Clear now?

I agree, the whole thing makes my head hurt...but at least they made a CLEAR distinguishment between the imports and USA made: only the USAs say USA. I've had similar "WTF was this made" with other American guitar companies who made stuff over-seas.

polara Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Holy mother of salmon. Diggin' the top one. If you want an Standard ("Explorer") just post in the For Sale section that you are in the market. A few will come out of the woodwork. Get your platinum card ready, though and slash the shoe budget for a year...

polara Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Is that an '83?which one?Inside joke. Consider yourself lucky NOT to be so deep in the geekery that you get it.
bcsride Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 If either or both of those prototypes are 83s, that is surreal. The geekerys around here would love to know the serial numbers. Also, that red one with Flip inlay was for sale not too long ago (I think). Were you the buyer or the seller?
