I recall a thread where standard cases were mentioned and the newer Hamer cases are supposed to be much better fitting than the old ones.

Thats all I got.

Thanks Rich. It's a start. :)

I had a Gibson case fit my standard quite well. It also featured a nice silk sheet that laid over the top of the guitar before you shut the case. Case combination lock also.

Have you tried Guardian Cases?

I don't know anything about them except that they offer a case for a Scarab on eBay.

They also offer cases for everything else on their site.

They seem to have good, better & best options and custom may be available.

Might be worth a try if you're still looking.

For a little bit at least, the import Hamer cases were formfit to the bodies and prevented the guitar from sliding and whacking the headstock into the top part if the case. 0109 lives happily in an import case, and the original case sits empty on the shelf.

Yep - what Stonge says.

For the record, I understand the OP is looking for something temporary for use as a one time shipping container. However, for anyone reading this and considering the import cases as a permanent solution, here's my take.

I have two different import cases and they fit the perimeter of my 4-digits well enough, but the neck angle should be compensated for by angled padding beneath the body which the import cases don't have. The lack of padding means any support stops about five inches above the heel and doesn't start again until the bottom 1/3 of the body. Combine this with any downward pressure from/on the top and this has heel break written all over it.

Here's a handy illustration:

Support stops<------5"------>neck joint<-------approx 10"------->Support starts

You could (should) add something to this area to help, but IMO it's still a bigger risk than necessary. I don't know how different (if at all) the neck angle is between "vintage" and modern Standards, but unless it's vastly different this problem should exist for both.

I'm sure someone here can dig up the TKL model number used by New Hartford. Why bother with something that doesn't fit perfectly when there are cases that do?

If it's a case for shipping then I would either hunt out a proper explorer flightcase on ebay or find a flightcase to put the original case inside, it will add to the shipping costs but increase the likelyhood of it arriving in one piece.
