Hey guys Hamer Dave forwarded me the book and I've had a chance to go through it (a few times), many very cool guitars. Anyway, I'm ready to forward it on to the next person, let me know if you are waiting and I will send it off to you. Thanks, Scott

Cool! I think I'm next. PM sent.

Got the book today (thanks, PaGator!). I'll peruse it for a week or so then pass it on.

Who's next?

Just out of curiosity, what kind of shape is the book in now that it has traveled for almost two years? Thanks.

I would say it's in pretty good shape overall but it's definitely showing some signs of wear. All the corners are slightly bent and there are two small tears (one larger than the other) on the back dust jacket. The bending on the top right corner has caused some slight bending on the upper outer corner of all the pages, and there is a small buckled area in the center lower corner of all the pages. But all in all it's really not that bad and not that noticeable.

I can post pictures if anyone would like to see what I'm talking about.

Physical condition aside, it's an awesome book. Unbelievably drool-worthy guitars, beautifully photographed. And knowing that what's in the book is but a fraction of RN's massive, ever-changing collection...sheesh. If I have any criticisms at all, it would have to do with the text: a few typos and misused apostrophes (the use of "it's" when it should have been "its" burns my eyes like laser beams through my pupils) and the curious practice of calling Standards "Explorers." But that's just nitpicking, isn't it?

Most of all, I'm glad to have had the chance to read (or should I say "look at"?) it and am honored to be a part of this unique book circle. Thanks.

And with that, I'm ready to pass it on to whoever is next on the list (HAMERMAN, is that you?). I'll pick up the necessary shipping materials this weekend.

Hi Dana,

Thanks for the update:)It sounds like this vintage book is aging nicely like a vintage guitar! Funny you should mention typos, a couple of grammatical mistake. Believe it or not, this book was proof read by a few people including myself! I think at a certain point there is a degree of tunnel vision on those involved with the book project. We even fucked up the ISBN number! There is a B in it and it should have been an 8....LOL. The book from start (my first discussions with Rick) to completion took just a little over two months. Our goal (Neilesn, Pitkin, Graham and me) was to have it ready for sale at the Jan. '93 NAMM show; which we did!

No wonder there are typos eh? :)

Classic, even Rick's label misspelled his name on "Standing on the Edge" Album. Rick is the Rodney Dangerfield of Guitarists.

If you let newbies on the list... count me in. Happy to wait until I am a more established member as well.

If it goes to anyone other than Gorch next, we're simply not the "great group of guys" we want to believe we are.

I agree. I think the members in Europe have been very patient. They should get their chance next.

Here are the Stinkin' Rules:

1. I will send the book via USPS to the first responder in this thread after and if approval is given.

2. The first borrower can keep the book for two weeks or so and then post they are ready to send it to the next borrower. Hopefully each borrower will pay to ship to the next and on and on. To keep shipping costs down, lets keep it in the CONUS until there is no more demand in the U.S. Once it is shipped out of the U.S. maybe the sender and receiver can split shipping costs via PayPal. Hopefully this copy will circulate the world to a few of the continents. It is necessary to ship in a padded envelope so the book does not get destroyed in shipping. BTW....when you ship at the post office, tell the counter attendant you are shipping a book and they will give you a special, cheaper rate:)

3. There are six red blank liner pages (three in the front and three in the back). I would like each member who receives the book to write in (legibly) their HFC handle, the date they receive and their location. At the point where no one else wants to borrow it, I would like it sent back to me. I will then write down all the names of the borrowers on the red liner pages and have my beautiful ex-wife (we're still friends) draw a name out of my Hamer ball cap and that person will keep the book permanently.

Kind of a goofy idea....but hey....I am the Greenfreek....coo coo gajoo!!

There are 35 pages of the book dedicated to Rick's Hamer guitars up to the photo shoot in Oct. 1992. Lots of cool Gibsons, Fenders and other brands Rick played and owned through his career. Amps too and other memorabilia important to Rick.

So if you're gonna play.....be nice and follow my Stinkin' Rules........pleeeeeaaaaaassssseeee!!

Bump.

Getting to be a lot of pages to this great story. So I thought I'd refresh the idea for those who are coming late to the party.

No, I passed it on to HAMERMAN. He messaged me that he received it on April 10th.
