Bump for November 1st. Hoping to get this book off of somebody's shelf and on to the next one in line.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE ALREADY HAD THE PLEASURE OF READING THIS BOOK. PLEASE TRY TO REMEMBER HOW MUCH YOU ENJOYED IT AND HELP ME FIND WHERE IT IS AND GET IT BACK INTO CIRCULATION OR RETURNED TO GREENFREAK WHO IS THE RIGHTFUL OWNER.

Thanks.

Hello Everyone... say i just this evening rec'd the book!!! Tear in the rear jacket, but otherwise in pretty good shape given the trips it has taken. Couple days ago, I let greenfreak know it was on the way to me.

Geowolves was the last to have it, and was good enough to put a makeshift cardboard protector around it for shipping... I kept this so i will do the same to the next in line. 17 entries since 4/7/14... proud to add my name to the very distinguished list... although i will be taking my FULL two weeks on this one.

Will ping when she is ready to go and/or off in the mail to next in line!

BTW- just a shout out to Greenfreak... this is a heck of a nice book, and not sure i would be so willing to ship it around the states/world... going to throw a little $ support for the forum in Greenfreaks name for this random act of guitar/forum kindness!

I can't take credit for the cardboard jacket as it came to me inside of that. Whoever did put it in cardboard it was a good idea.

I shipped it out in a cardboard sleeve, but I don't know if it's the same one you received it in. Anyway, enjoy the awesome book!

Ok Gents... who is next?? If no takers, it will cycle back to Greenfreak...

I heard Gorch mentioned... overseas?? No idea on shipping costs over the pond...

Posted

Send it back to Greenfreak. I'm done with it.

Also ? but ok... anyone else?

FWIW... i did look into shipping overseas and from what i could ascertain, looking at about $65 +/- to the UK via usps based on a simple search online. Gorch... might be willing to split ship costs with you depending what final number is... although unlikely i could send until after Christmas (the lines at the local post are beyond silly). I did send some pickups to south korea earlier this year... little box.. and $185 via ups... I choked on that one!!!

If no takers, will ping GF and let him know it's on the way back... with great power comes great responsibility (lol... does that fit here... just felt like this needed to have some kind of 'weighty' reply).

Hey Gorch, I was looking into sending to you but there was one left on the USA so I sent it forward. When I looked into shipping I thought you were in Germany and the price was around $33 USPS. Sorry it didn't make it your way as my understanding was to finish the USA then ship it international. Now another has interest here when Nichd was looking into send it overseas to you as I had advised him before I shipped it to him. Sorry it took so long to go thru the states and if I cut infront of you as I know you requested this early on and are a good dude here in the site. Either way Rock On! I also am confused by the "I am done here" reference.

Don't worry geowolves, the book was supposed to travel every 2nd week or so (from March 30 2014!) from where it arrives next. From the sequence of interested people it could have travelled the EU and world far before i.e. nichd had even registered with the forum. When it gets kept as long as it takes for another USA based member appearing and showing interest, it never makes its way as it was meant to be. I have now lost interest.

gorch, I can't disagree with anything you said. But this is a pretty neat project that Greenfreak has started and I'd hate to see it die out just because a couple of guys didn't follow through the way  they should have. I do agree that when someone keeps the book for weeks or months longer than they agreed to when they asked to be included, it opened a loophole that wasn't probably imagined when the original idea began.

But fortunately The HFC keeps growing. So when the book moved, there was always a new name on the list that got it before it went to Europe. And you guys over there got screwed! Sucks! Sorry. Don't let it ruin your opportunity to enjoy this book.

I think there are more members in Europe that want to see the book and be included. So the book is probably headed that way anyway. And I think you have been the most patient of all to wait as long as you did. And I think most here will say you should be the 1st in Europe to get it. So please reconsider this and read the book man. It's a good one, well worth the read.

Ok guys... we are through the holidays.

I am taking some liberties as a new member here... so shut me down if you disagree. I think this needs an 'end' but you can tell me to pound sand... because if no 'end' my guess is that the book will eventually be lost or forgotten. So I say, end the rotation by Dec 31, 2017.

1. Gorch, the consensus seems to be whether you like it or not, the book should go to you. I am willing to cover a reasonable portion of the shipping, but need your address. We can either split costs or I can try to get some folks to chip in... again depending on cost... that being said, i want to be respectful of your wishes and the fact that you have already said no... so will leave it to other members to influence.

2. If not Gorch...then anyone else in Europe that has been waiting for it?? If going overseas, i think it should have a defined timeline... i.e. back in the US by a set date (enough time in Europe to cover those members). then if time allows, cover any remaining US based members.

3. Has to be someone on this forum that has a connection to Rick Nielson. Once back in the US... should culminate in a signing by Rick himself... and then back to Greenfreak as a nice thank you to him for doing this.

Just my two cents. Agree, disagree... general consensus??

I agree that you haven't been here very long.

I don't agree that the book will become "lost or forgotten". We continually get new members and most seem interested in reading it, just like you did,so it could go for a long time.

Don't agree that the story should end 12/31/17. This is greenfreaks deal. He should decide when it is over.

Agree that it needs to go to Europe. But I can't agree to limiting it's time there to a few weeks/months or even years. It's been traveling The States for 3 years, our European members should be held to the same rules as the rest of us. "... borrower can keep the book for two weeks or so and then post they are ready to send it to the next borrower"

Don't know Mr. Nielson so won't comment other than that you might be right that some here know him.

Bill ("Greenfreak") will make the call, since it is his property, concept and generosity that have allowed this.

Gorch has said he doesn't want it, there's no reason to doubt him.  Send it to RichRS6.  He actually spoke up before Gorch and is in the UK.

I agree that you haven't been here very long... LOL.

I have reached out to Greenfreak and to Gorch and based on their responses, I will send along to the next member who has said they wanted it.

Per cynic, that seems to be RichRs6 who i will reach out to, and if not, it seems like the next U.S. is gatorbyte007. If I have missed someone in order, please let me know.

Special thanks to Greenfreak for his generosity with this!

I have no problem with the book continuing its journey....for weeks, months or years. I have not been in touch with Rick for some time (his choice) so getting him to sign is out of my hands.
