Hamer found in the woods

Question

I had never heard of Hamer until my dad brought me one that he found in the woods. It was missing both pots, and dirty/rusty. I replaced the electronics and painted the pick guard as well as gave it a thorough cleaning. I used fender 250k pots, since I didnt have access to Hamer parts locally, and the onky thing I know is it says Slammer by Hamer on the head. I have a total of $30.00 invested in this guitar, and I like he sound of it better than my ibanez electric. Can anyone tell me more about what I have?

Slammer By Hamer was the entry level guitar line that was available in the 90's. They are not the same as the more expensive Hamer Slammer Series guitars that were made in Korea.

I've found a lot of things in the woods before but never a guitar. Mushrooms. Lots of mushrooms. Some better than others.

A coworker told me he found either an old rifle or shotgun propped up against a tree in the woods. If it cleans up and plays good for you. I need to get out in the woods maybe I'll find a PRS or Nick Huber.

I don't know what kind of Ibanez you have, but Slammer by Hamer had been really low budget guitars at the time. Anyway, it's great when you are happy! And welcome to the boards!

Its an Ibanez Gio, another entry level guitar, but something about the slammer sounds better to me.

My first thought after reading "Hamer found in woods" was....what would I use if I ran out of toilet paper? A guitar seems like a really

bad choice. Bit was the gig bag missing? Maybe THAT's what happened.

....or some kid on a camping trip was playing guitar around the campfire one night....and got eaten by a bear after playing a Justin Bieber song. Any bear scat near the guitar?

Cool find though!!

I think there is not much saying on the Slammer by Hamer to be found here since the series had been really low budget at the time and of no serious interest here. The early Korean made Slammer Series has a reputation that comes close to the USA made except for the fancy custom stuff. The Slammer Series are really great guitars.

And then there is the XT line of guitars made in different factories in various countries like Korea, Indonesia and China. List in order of quality within the line. But XT is not what you are talking about, right?

Come on now, fess up. It wasn't your Dad who dragged it in from the woods. It was Timmy & Lassie. Timmy found it when he fell down the well.

Cheers!
