ARM OF HAMER Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Cool guitar and a big asking price! NO connection to seller or the guitar.https://reverb.com/item/4197268-hamer-usa-newport-12-nos-2008-natural-birdseye-maple
cmatthes Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 I love mine - it's the best electric 12 I've ever owned, and I've owned a lot! Mine is a custom-ordered, very early one - flame top (not birdseye) and 59 Burst. I'm not sure I'd sell at that price point, but agree that is pretty optimistic.
django49 Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 FWIW, when I sold my "extra" one a few years ago (sunburst, birdseye, near mint) it was way less than HALF that. Great guitars, but the asking price is a BIG stretch.
cmatthes Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Russ has always priced things, uh, "optimistically"...
gorch Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 We have seen the birds eye12er before I think. It's a wonderful guitar!

Studio Custom Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 The concept of NOS would be with a warranty no?

bruce919 Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 been looking for one to pop up used for a while. The guy will not budge on the price for this one.

The warranty ceases to have value when the company ceases to exist, as here. Even though Hamer has been sold to JAM Industries, they're not likely to honor (nor would you really want them to) warranty claims that didn't happen on one of their products.
cmatthes Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 When I worked in NoVA, Rechts, Turdus and I got together at Classic Axe a few times because the old shop was near the office park where we worked. As I mentioned earlier, Russ always had cool stuff in stock, but none of us knew how he ever sold anything because he always seemed to feel that everything he had would sell for near list price. Might be why stuff sat...and sat...and sat. He probably has a ton of NOS stuff hanging around.

It is effectively a used guitar due to no warranty, not NOS.
Greg G Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 One of my "grail" guitars but if that's the price of admission, I have to pass.
cmatthes Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 I forgot about the ceeegars. That place definitely had the aroma of a Morton's back room. He did call me about advice for pricing old/used Hamers when a few walked into his shop, but ended up tagging them much higher than the high end of my range(s). A friend of mine did buy a Hamer Korina Nielsen Futura from him at full list price without haggling because he absolutely had to have that guitar. I think Russ had two from that run in there back then. I'm thinking Russ liked Rechts better than me, because he always said he really couldn't go lower, and "somebody will pay that".
