discountsounds Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 From my completely neurotic perspective, this entire thread is just an elaborate scheme to c*cktease me into buying Kiz's BCR Jr. I lost my job last week and I'm up to my neck in debt but it's been taking every last ounce of willpower to lay off that guitar!
thecajunboy Posted February 25, 2006 Author Posted February 25, 2006 Damn! 100 replies and I only wanted to know how many were made and in what colors. Were there any regular headstock thickness Jrs made with mahogany instead of Korina?
BCR Greg Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 No.*edited to add*There was a prototype that was not real good, Kiz had it for a while. The original proto for the BCR Junior had a tunomatic on it, Frank had it at one of the HFC jams. It didn't have the right tuners, either. Suffice it to say, not a BCR Junior.
DavidE Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I went with a friend to a repair guys' shop yesterday. He's having 2 guitars retrofitted with the Buzz Feiten system. But he's one of those players who just can't play in tune. It's like he pushes so hard on the strings that he sends his guitars out of tune. I'm not sure the Feiten system will help.I think most of us subconciously adjust our left hand to keep things in tune.
Mike_C Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Damn! 100 replies and I only wanted to know how many were made and in what colors. Were there any regular headstock thickness Jrs made with mahogany instead of Korina? Well Not through Greg. With Hamer anything is possible. Frank Rindone had a cherry red mahogany junior with a bigsby.
thecajunboy Posted February 25, 2006 Author Posted February 25, 2006 With Hamer anything is possible. Improv with a Floyd and a holoskull on the headstock?
MCChris Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I guess you have to tell Eric Johnson and Steve Vai to stop wasting valuable gig time on having their guitars done with the Feiten system. Like either of those guys spends ANY time tweaking their own guitars anymore. If I had a tech in my employ like they do, I'd have him install the Feiten system, check my intonation between every song (possibly after every chorus if he was quick enough) and come up with a way for the guitar to give me a handjob during the performance.
Guest galejt Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I think most of us subconciously adjust our left hand to keep things in tune. I imagine that most of us are quite adept at that very thing....
Mike_C Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Were there any regular headstock thickness Jrs made with mahogany instead of Korina? Mahogany Junior Found another regular headstock Mahogany Junior. Seems that other Dealers got some too.
halide Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Mahogany Junior Found another regular headstock Mahogany Junior. Seems that other Dealers got some too. cool, a "warranted headstock" model.
hardheartedbill Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 more from the dynamic duo( or quartet depending on whose using this account today ) tell me about the warranty on a headstock break again? ever see one honored by ANY company?
Mike_C Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Bill If you read the thread you'd see that I said the exact same thing. someone asked how many mahogany juniors not how many BCR spec'd juniors. Greg answered the question about his spec'd guitars. And if you read that you know that I said they are damn fine guitars. SO what's your problem. I can't help if someone else quotes me. FWIW there is a very cool Mahogany Junior at indoor storm or Kiz's very fine guitar or korina juniors available as a model. THe list of people that think there cool goes is pretty impressive. Tom DumontBrad WhitfordMelissa EtheridgeFelicia Collinsall own Korina Juniors.Korina, Mohogany either or whatever your flavor doesn't change that they are cool guitars. So read the thread before you decide to attack me.
cmatthes Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Okay - First of all, Mike - I don't believe that Bill's post in any way shape or form is directed at YOU, so let's cool the jets for a minute. Halide - either put up or shut up. If you have something that says these aren't warranted, I think we'd ALL love to see it. The point was made that no manufacturer warrants a broken headstock. That is far outside any company's warranty, because nobody I know in the industry covers that. If you have evidence in somebody's warranty showing that, please share. We are all freakin' sick and tired of this kind of crap. Take it somewhere else if you can't back up what you're saying. If you can, then by all means, I am all ears.I don't have a dog in this petty little game that some people continue to drag out here, and I would personally love to see you all take it offline where the rest of us don't have to watch you all make asses of yourselves.I think that the basic question here asked how many of one particular dealer's order were made (at least that's what the title suggests). I think it's great that there are others out there that are somewhat similar and I'm even more thrilled that the Korina Jr. (built to Hamer's own specs) are out there. I guess I should expect that some people just can't avoid a pissing match - it's a freakin' guitar message board. Grow the hell up.
thecajunboy Posted February 25, 2006 Author Posted February 25, 2006 I think that the basic question here asked how many of one particular dealer's order were made (at least that's what the title suggests). That's all I wanted to know. I was lucky enough to grab an orange one, third hand, used. I didn't know the full spectrum of how they were all built, so I asked. Now I know, and I'm glad to be the lucky owner of only 4 that are like it. Likewise I am also happy that I own one of the (13 is it?) black 25th Anniversary Artists. Should I dare ask why Hamer decided on korina for the normal production Jrs?
Guest galejt Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Oh yes please. This thread was more fun thatn I have had in a dog's age. Of course, a life I need, hmmMMMmmm.
cmatthes Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Should I dare ask why Hamer decided on korina for the normal production Jrs? I think because it's so cool!
straightblues Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I know Tonejunky sold his last one recently for a grand. How do they compare to something like a Gibby Historic? And before someone jumps on my shit, I don't know why he gave it away at that price. For the record, I am now the proud new owner of Tonejunky's BCR Jr. It is a very fine guitar. It rings like no other guitar I have ever played. I hated the Rio P90 and I have swapped it with a Lollar P90 since I bought it. I couldn't be happier with the guitar. It does have some magic in it. Mine has either a Pigtail or a vintage Gibson wrap tail piece. It intonates just fine. Hamer fans can rest assured that this one will be well played and will be with a Hamer FAN. As to why Tonejunky sold it so cheap, I have no idea. But I can assure you that I don't have any films of him in compromising positions. Tonejunky has several Hubers that are keeping him busy, including a very fine Jr. with a 25.5 scale neck that he loves. I am not sure why all of the flames have happened in this thread. Maybe one day I will understand all of the politcs of this board.
cmatthes Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Straightblues - glad you got that one! I'm sure it will be played, loved and continue making great music. As far as "board politics", there are no board politics, but there are the miniscule number of posters with petty little agendas who can't seem to get past all that. Ignoring them is probably the best way to deal with it.

Moose Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 just an elaborate scheme to c*cktease me into buying Kiz's BCR Jr. Well, go get a job and buy the F_ing thing!Seriously, if I didn't already have the most AMAZING junior, I would have purchased it. Instead, I chose a different road, but these things are such fun to play that it is difficult to describe. You just have to have one plugged into the right amp and feel the hair stand up on the back of your neck for yourself. When you get back on your feet, treat yourself to one. Call it incentive to be diligent and focused.
Chollie Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Don't worry Cajun, you're not the only one that bought theirs 3rd hand. I will admit there is something special about the BCRJr. Not sure if it was just the fact I've wanted a jr. for so long or if it's just a superior guitar to anything that I own, but I feel that I play my best on that guitar It's just amazing.

There were only 13 of the 25th in Black. I have a TV BCR Junior and one of the black 25ths. Now that is small world stuff. Cool!Let me know when they go into rotation. I love mine.
straightblues Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 It is a very small world. I also have a black Artist and a BCR Junior.
