Used to get high with the singer and keyboard player from my local high school that were 2/4s of a Doors tribute band. The singer was tall, dark, long curly hair and surly lips and affected the mannerisms of Morrison. We were in Chorus together. The keyboard guy was rich and had all the above equipment, plus Kustom amps and PA. He wore his stringy blond hair like Manzarek and had the glasses, slightly stooped posture on stage and in real life. He was very inscrutable too in his Manzarek short waistcoat and slightly flared corduroy bell bottoms.

At the time I thought that was how it was done. Dress up to messup. These guys had the chops though. Won every Battle of the Bands in the old GYM, Sneakers Only!

Whenever I see or hear of a Rhodes, I just think of the Rhodes Mark I Suitcase Piano.

"Excuse me, I don't think there's anything wrong with the action on this piano..."

Played that same model for several years, in Chicago no less.  The prices here are, well, ridiculous to anyone but a serious collector but, in their defense, those things are a lot more fiddly to fix and maintain than you might think.  Still...

I had a big pile of "vintage" keys around in the past, mainly because it scratched my "electrical and computer engineering" itch :)  Since I'm not hands on in the career world these days, it was always a fun outlet to buy non or semi-functional projects to resurrect and play.

I've sold off most of that stuff - including a Rhodes Mark II 88 key piano.  I had bought it locally for........  wait for it.........  350!

Of all that I've sold, it is the only one I truly miss.  Wonderful instrument, but just took up too much space for me.
