Hamer backplate screws

I'm missing a few screws. Yes, I probably have a few loose too. Anyone have a line? No hobby shops left in town. I'm heading to ACE in a while to see if they have them. All Parts online store requires $20 minimum.

I'm not sure what size Hamer used, but I get Gibson and Fender sized screws from Philadelphia Luthier Supply. They're very nice quality.

In the good old days I needed screws for an old Sunburst and I sent a mail to Kim Keller at Hamer. He sent a package with screws to me here in Sweden, for free. That is customer service!

It should be something similar to this:

https://www.amazon.com/Coated-Stainless-Phillips-Bolt-Dropper/dp/B079SW2XZR?th=1

Measure the length on yours, as several sizes are available.  Gibson and Fender pickguard and mounting screws often have rounded tops.

Not sure what Hamer used, but both Gibson and Fender use oval head sheet metal screws. Adding this to your search may help narrow it down as most wood screws have a different thread spacing, etc.

Awesome! Thanks Chris. I love Amazon Prime as much as I hate Amazon.

I'm guessing May 10th was a tough day around the house growing up?

The backplate screws on both of my US Hamers (a Special and a Studio Custom) are long, thin oval-head screws somewhere in the #2 x 1" range, similar to pickup mounting ring screws but longer.  I can't post a link, but if you do a search on Philly Luthier Supply website for "#2 x 3/4" (19mm) Pickup mounting ring screws for guitars - Qty 8 - Black" it should come up.

I measured the screws from the backplate of my 2001 Studio and they are #3 X 1/2" flat countersunk head phillips drive wood screws with a black finish. They are 24 threads per inch and take a #1 phillips driver.

So these would work?

#6 is going to be considerably fatter than #3, ( 0.1406 vs. 0.094).  I know, at such tweensy sizes who cares, and they would probably grip better.  But it may make a difference in getting through the back plate holes.

You'd have to drill out the holes in the body and drill out the holes in the cover plate, plus enlarge the countersink quite a bit to get everything to flush out with a #6 screw. You might also have to countersink the hole in the wood, since the screw head would be deeper than the metal plate.

McMaster Carr has the correct size screw in brass. Maybe a dab of black paint is all you need. $5.84 for 100 screws. The company I work for buys things from McMaster all the time. I don't know if they do retail to the general public, though.
