When I see a missing serial number, I always suspect that the instrument might be stolen property. You can sand the neck all you want (although I would rather you didn't), but please leave the serial number.

Not necessarily, some people just don't know any better or even care for that matter... but I can see your point/concern... I personally destroyed my share of guitars in the 80's 🥺
