Picked up another Machete yesterday.  Neck-through construction, beautiful ebony board.  I think it is a 1989 but doesn't have the usual serial number on the back of the headstock.  I had a 1988 Medley, transparent green, swamp ash top, mahogany body and neck, neck through, same pickups.  I regretted selling that one until now.

There's a nice Robin Fleety on 'Verb. I bit high priced, but maybe a call to them direct, might get a deal. I dig when he ran the grain on an angle.

I hope whoever has that guitar listed buys it a birthday cake every year they keep it listed, damn shame someone (like me, fer instance) isn’t playing the finish off of it DAILY!

That one has been listed on Reverb for years.  Timing might be right for a discount...

If one wanted to get in touch with them directly...   https://guitarhouse.net/

Ok, here's one that's as rare and cool as they come.  AND it's reasonably-priced!

WITH the OHSC!

On Reverb

I don't want the bass player leaning over my shoulder the entire night.

That is fantastic.  What is the story behind it?

Dave Wintz had put Robin Guitars on a temporary hiatus (which turned out to be permanent) in 2010.

He told me some months later that he had some leftover guitars that he was finishing up here and there.  Among them were this Apollo and a Savoy with a natural top, so I bought them both.

Yep. Was on ebay before reverb.  Looks like fun and i like the wrap.

Not what i am looking for (recently bought a nice Avalon), though,  so im still lookin.  Prob will be for a while!  Fixed on an artisan (usa) at the moment.  But you never know.  My mood changes often enough.

This is pretty spectacular and reasonably priced:

I use funny ways to get myself to not buy a guitar unless it moves me on a higher level.  "It is missing the truss rod cover", "If it only had a reverse headstock", "neck binding would make me buy this".

Yeah. Same here. Also…. My appetite is more limited given space constraints and an upcoming move.  So it must be the right one - or a super deal on just a good one.

Congrats for a tiny, but tasteful music corner!

Got a email from Willie Moseley last week. He's with Vintage Guitar magazine. He's writing a book on the history of  Robin guitars. Sounds very cool. He's using some pics of my guitars.

Thanks, Donner.  The real noise room is elsewhere, ie my office nook. It is packed tight w way too much crap.

1998 Avalon on Reverb

vuhvon2qf0pggtd1pdfi.jpg

Seller lists it as a 2010,but it's a '98.

His opening sentence is not only inaccurate, it's seizure-inducing: "As new, a 2010 last run made by Robin Avalon Electric Guitars, Made in the USA!!!!!"

He closes with "Robin Guitars ceased productions in Texas in 2010. So this beauty has sat in its case ( air conditioned ) for over 10 years."

I don't know where he got 2010 from, or where one can find an air conditioned guitar case, but the serial number is clearly from 1998, if he had bothered to look.  Also, the standard humbucker mounting rings are a dead giveaway.
