ChugD Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 Picked up another Machete yesterday. Neck-through construction, beautiful ebony board. I think it is a 1989 but doesn't have the usual serial number on the back of the headstock. I had a 1988 Medley, transparent green, swamp ash top, mahogany body and neck, neck through, same pickups. I regretted selling that one until now. 5 Quote

santellavision Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 (edited) There's a nice Robin Fleety on 'Verb. I bit high priced, but maybe a call to them direct, might get a deal. I dig when he ran the grain on an angle. https://reverb.com/item/37292632-robin-fleetwood?utm_source=criteo&utm_medium=display&utm_campaign=Criteo-US-Conversions-2021Q4&utm_content=900x600&cto_pld=Cff5eC5jAACA3jlIw6ePug Edited October 18, 2023 by santellavision 3 Quote

kizanski Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 38 minutes ago, ChugD said: That is fantastic. What is the story behind it? Dave Wintz had put Robin Guitars on a temporary hiatus (which turned out to be permanent) in 2010. He told me some months later that he had some leftover guitars that he was finishing up here and there. Among them were this Apollo and a Savoy with a natural top, so I bought them both. 5 1 Quote
velorush Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 This is pretty spectacular and reasonably priced: 5 Quote
stedge Posted November 20, 2023 Author Posted November 20, 2023 Yep. Was on ebay before reverb. Looks like fun and i like the wrap. Not what i am looking for (recently bought a nice Avalon), though, so im still lookin. Prob will be for a while! Fixed on an artisan (usa) at the moment. But you never know. My mood changes often enough. Quote

"It is missing the truss rod cover", "If it only had a reverse headstock", "neck binding would make me buy this". 1 1 Quote
stedge Posted November 20, 2023 Author Posted November 20, 2023 Yeah. Same here. Also…. My appetite is more limited given space constraints and an upcoming move. So it must be the right one - or a super deal on just a good one. Quote
velorush Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Really cool Avalon at Sam Ash San Diego. $1,614.99 with $12.50(?) Shipping: 2 Quote

santellavision Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Got a email from Willie Moseley last week. He's with Vintage Guitar magazine. He's writing a book on the history of Robin guitars. Sounds very cool. He's using some pics of my guitars. 3 Quote
stedge Posted December 5, 2023 Author Posted December 5, 2023 Thanks, Donner. The real noise room is elsewhere, ie my office nook. It is packed tight w way too much crap. 1 Quote
ChugD Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 The Lone Ranger. Surrounded by Machete's...what will he do? Be sure to tune in next week. 3 Quote
kizanski Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 1998 Avalon on Reverb Seller lists it as a 2010,but it's a '98. His opening sentence is not only inaccurate, it's seizure-inducing: "As new, a 2010 last run made by Robin Avalon Electric Guitars, Made in the USA!!!!!" He closes with "Robin Guitars ceased productions in Texas in 2010. So this beauty has sat in its case ( air conditioned ) for over 10 years." I don't know where he got 2010 from, or where one can find an air conditioned guitar case, but the serial number is clearly from 1998, if he had bothered to look. Also, the standard humbucker mounting rings are a dead giveaway. 1 Quote
