Me been lucky too, lately.

A deep black, really none blacker 99 Savoy popped up in Germany.

Factory (?) bigsby, modded with a cheaper Roswell Staple-PU in the neck, a splittable DiMarzio DP209, different knobs and OHSC. Funny: The ABR-Bridge sports 3 plastic saddles, just true G-style

Price was right, so I pulled the trigger.

Don't know if the PUs will stay, but the guitar feels well enuff to be a keeper.

IA guitars are like fine wine: Gettinhg better with every year 😉

And imagine what it would cost if you'd have to pay it in todays Dollars!

You saved a lot for sure.

I paid him $3,200 for it about a week after I received my Standard from him.  Then, tick tock...

Yeah, but guitars are not supposed to already be vintage when you buy them new.

I always wonder: Was that before Gustavson did his thing, after JG or around the same time? Who was first?

Another example below: An early IA Speedmaster from 2002, no serial nr., but confirmed by IA.

Was a lucky TGP-find, I removed the Les Trem later on. Finest woods, handicraft, lacquer, tone & feel too.

These IA PAF-PUs are very special, did someone say „woody“?

I have a set in my Tally Pro, too.

Gustavsson was first.  Ian worked at Taylor and Lentz before he struck out on his own.  The Speedsters (I think there are four or five) were his first foray.  Then, I think he jumped on the Gustavsson train (Tele/Paul).  My Standard was $3,600 and Johan was asking about 10K.  No brainer for me.  And I have a Gustavsson.  No better than Ian's work.  Ian's just a terrible businessman and, frankly, dishonest.  I have three sets of his pickups, as well as the two guitars.  He still owes me a set of pickups that he promised me about eight years ago because of some finish flaws on the Flying V.  Not holding my breath.  Now, I'm smitten with Bare Knuckle Black Dogs.  Best PAF's I've tried.  Ian's are good though.

I think he added my name as a tip of the hat to me.
He was a great guy.

I remember Dave saying, “you know Mike”?  I had just bought the first Kizanski model. Dave was the genuine article.  So humble.

Actually kinda watching a Revival.

Revivals are cool, but they’re toys compared to a late year Ranger.
Revival: Small neck, Japanese made in the ES factory, I-Don’t-Know-What pickups.
Ranger: Big neck, Houston made, Rio Grande pickups.
