Well, that's weird (non-Hamer Def Leppard guitar content)

I bought a brand new Ibanez Destroyer II from guitar center in San Jose in the early 80s, in cherry sunburst. It was a well built guitar. They just flipped the cut away at the bottom of the body, the Ibby has the top part sticking out slightly, the Jackson the opposite. And the lower horn, as it sits on a strap, is  flipped down on the Ibby.

I don't have it anymore. I really wanted a Hammer Chaparral but never even saw one in person. Just the mag ads and a few videos. So I traded it in on a PV destiny which was the closest thing to the Chap around me. Pretty nice guitar as well, but could never get the action like the real deal which I got a few years later.

I bought a used very mint '81 Ibanez Destroyer II with a cherry finish from a friend's roommate in Foster City, CA in the early '80s. I regret trading that guitar at Guitar Center for a 1996 Gibson Les Paul Custom that I wanted. I never knew that guitar would become a desired collector's guitar or was of high value. 😞

I recently saw this pic and thought it was odd.  I guess Phil's invented the Jackson Destroyer.

Jackson Standard Destroyer Black Beauty?

There was some linkage between the 30th anniversary of Pyromania, Lep going on the road with Kiss, and nostalgia for the era in which Phil joined the band during the middle of recording. Basically, it seemd to be his itch to revist that iconic instrument that he became synonymous with.  I think Jackson did simiarly for Adrian Smith vis-a-vis his red Destroyer not long after they built the DT copies for Phil.

Phil must have a competition going on with Iggy Pop to see who can go shirtless the longest.

Phil wins. Iggy looks like an old catchers mitt.
