Oddly enough, I have no Hamers from the 6s, so it's up to you guys for Hamer content. All I can come up with is a '56 Silvertone 1331 (tweed champ-ish, and awesome) and '76 muttocaster (76 neck on a newer Clapton body).

Windex or cheapo similar works great for cleaning low end guitars. I would try a gentle automotive vinyl/leather cleaner, I sometimes use Griots (gree ohs) Interior Detailer, it's not harsh and doesn't seem to leave any visible residue, but it does claim to have a UV protectant so it's leaving something on there. I had asked at the counter at Griots for what they would recommend as a gentle vinyl / tolex cleaner

I'd try Simple Green on an inconspicuous part of the case and see if that works.

This rambling interview (really more of a recorded hang) with Reinhold Bogner is great. I'm glad he's doing a little bit more publicly lately. The guy seems flighty on the surface, but he's really just a very based guy. He definitely seems to care more about making exactly what he wants more than chasing sales numbers. It's refreshing and really makes me rethink selling my Atma. Teaching strategic communication for the last 10 years has made me really jaundiced toward all things "brand," but ole Reinhold is a good reminder that there still are people who just enjoy making high quality things that other people enjoy and prioritize that over milking every last drop of equity out of the name. I reckon I enjoy being a part of that. Also watched the Paul Di'Anno documentary Sunday. Pretty sad watch, and the scene where they do the knee replacement is harrowing. I've known so many musicians like this - lifers with all the talent in the world who never could get out of their own way. Guy had a perfect voice for metal, and it was largely still intact. But he just wasn't equipped to be anything but a trainwreck. I'm not an absolute Maiden nut (love what I love by them though) or a Di'Anno head, but I'm glad someone captured his story. It's definitely a chapter of 20th Century music lore worth preserving.

I'll try to make it on Sunday, will bring my 16 yo daughter who is just starting to see the magic in these wood & wire things we obsess over.

That would have been a great show! A buddy wanted to see Bonamassa here but by the time we figured all the costs it would have been close to $700 (2 decent tickets, parking, beers, taking the wives to dinner for making them go, etc etc etc). I can get 2 Hamers for that.

Follow-up: Dave (Frets on the Net) was great. I wanted to honor my Mom (Rosalind) for co-signing the loan that got my LP way back in '78, and sent Dave an idea: He apologized for not being able to do that exact thing but did this instead: ...which actually looks better. I should probably throw it in a cup of coffee overnight - it's really white against that old guitar! But he did a great job and I'd use him again in a heartbeat (when I need the 'Dumbass' one). Thanks guys for pointing me in the right direction. This place rawks!

Came across 500K Shadow Kill Pot while cleaning up while unboxing all my crap at the end of a year-long workshop build project. I had this in a guitar very briefly (I don't ever remember what guitar it was) and it's been stashed away in a box ever since. Oddly, the packaging is wrong - it's definitely a 500K pot, not 250K like on the package. I know several of you put these in single-knob shredders, so I figure I'll pass it on to someone who'll use it. (Plus, it's one less unused item in the over-stuffed workshop.)
