Do Valves make pedals better? The debate.
django49 replied to Saul Goodman's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Yep.....The Tone King and Synergy products all trace back to the same folks, so they work much the same. It is pretty much a choice of which fits your needs better. For me, I like the idea of having the preamp on a portable format board. And board mountable power amps work well, IMO. Of course the board becomes bigger if expanded to have more than one such preamp.😉 The Tubesteader tube pedals are also good AND less costly, but (IMO at least) not nearly as versatile. Still, if a person wanted multiple preamps on one board (like Dumble, Marshall, Tweed), they take up less real estate. One of these days I need to sort thru all this stuff and offload the extras......🤔 -

I was wondering where that went. IIRC I just missed it the last time it went up for sale. I had cash... then... had... 😐🥱😄 It's a beauty. I loathe treble bleed circuits, with the one exception of the TV Jones treble bleed - works fantastically with their pickups. That with the TV Jones pickups would be a far better realization of what I've been shooting for with the Stretchocaster iterations. Plus, just look at it! -

The Morgan AC. My ideal setup is an AC channel and a Plexi channel. -
I bought a used Vox Night Train 15 NT G2 several weeks ago. Sounded great in the store and the few times I played it at home. I pulled it out today to check how it does with my pedal board and heard a buzz/grit as chords and notes decayed. Some pulsing in the tails. It gets loud and the initial tone sounds good. I have tried the following so far to no avail. swapped speaker cable guitar direct to amp, no pedals different speaker different guitar changed all preamp and power tubes have not tried a different guitar cable, will do that. Before I open it up and start probing, does anyone have experience with similar symptoms? Any suggestions?

I want to clear $2400, am in the SF Bay Area. A bunchy of pics at the link. One of the attached photo shows TV Jones P90 mount TV Classic/Classic+ pickups, it currently has the p90s back in it. I still have the TV Jones if anyone is interested in those. There are a few things to note, all documented in the pics. Some buckle rash, a finish chip at the pickup edge, Vibramate and a treble bleed added. The treble bleed is the one recommended by tv jones, it is aggressive, it acts more as a bass cut over the first part of the volume travel, thins out from the hot p90 sound to more of a strat or low wind p90 voice. https://photos.app.goo.gl/f3MbjcZbc6v7mXTT8

As these Tone King pedals are rather expensive, the concept begins to converge with the Synergy approach. At some point you ask yourself: which is better for you - pedals on the floor, or modules in a head? The Tubesteader pedals are cheaper so it makes the decision easier, but those Synergy modules sound GREAT. If the Synergy preamp head was cheaper I'd go that route in a heartbeat - one Morgan module and one Marshall JMP module. -

The tube alone is not the answer. Depends on how it is used. Duh! At risk of being redundant, check out such as the Tone King PREAMP pedals (note that a third one, this time a Vox take, is about to drop). They are the full TUBE preamp from their high end combo amps....Great sounding and very versatile. As I get older, smaller and lighter but still the full tone package, is a nice alternative. Once more, the Effectrode Blackbird is also an excellent option.....Assuming you like that cascading gain sorta thing..... -
