  2. I have found that larger necks are less stress on my hands than thinner ones. I know this seems counter intuitive to some people, but it requires less pressure than squeezing a thinner neck arniez
  3. Today
  4. That man made a lot of music happen. “… 1971 we all heard the starter’s gun, New York was such a pity, but at Max’s Kansas City we won, we all shot the shit at the bar with Johnny O’Toole and his scar and then old Clive Davis said boys I’m gonna make you a star….” 💔❤️‍🩹❤️
  5. Went out with my wife and a whole bunch of bandmates, local musicians and legends to catch Del Amitri in a tiny club (Atlantis) on Sunday night. They’re always phenomenal live, but I really wanted to catch one of my favorite local acts, Dot Dash, who was the opener. As my wife and I were enjoying a cold beverage on the rooftop deck, Hunter Bennett from Dot Dash came over and said “Chris! My Hamer guru!”. We’ve chatted online for years about gear, specifically Hamers, and he has some incredible stuff (including Tom Petersson’s old 8 String FB, and a green flametop B-08M that was custom ordered by somebidy here years ago. Anyway, he let me know he was slinging his latest - a set neck mid-80s Cruisebass with an amburburst flame top. Hunter is an incredible player, and is a cool combination of Peter Hook, Bruce Foxton, Entwistle and the lead bassist from Ned’s Atomic Dustbin. 😉 Really a solid and talented guy, and always has the best tone live. Anyway, here’s a crappy pic or two for y’all, but seriously check out their stuff - great catalog
  6. Thanks! That Ace would be nice - and as said, it is merely the design that I am looking for... 🙂
  7. Wow, the heaviest of the heavy hitters... RIP 🙏
  8. I used to play .010 to .052 all nickel sets. That was in my thirties, forties and early fifties. I developed the beginnings of Dupuytren's contracture in my ring finger on my left hand. Doc told me that I needed to "do something" to make playing the guitar easier. I told him, "That's what the weed and the whiskey is for". He wasn't amused. When I explained string tension and how much I was playing, he told me that I needed to take the stress off my finger and hand. I went to .010 to .046. I could definitely hear the difference in tone. Especially on the lower stings. The point of my rant is that my Dupuytren's hasn't progressed since I got rid of the .052's. But I am thinking of trying .009 to .046. I'm 64 and, as my father used to say, "Getting old sucks". I hope you're able to fend off the "aging" and alleviate your pain somehow. The one thing we should be able to do until the day we die is play guitar comfortably.
  9. For those of you that wish to try something totally different, I love my Custom Tones Inc. "Ethos TWE-1" pedal. Probably the best pedal I've ever tried for using the volume on the guitar to clean up from a tone of sufficient growl. The Pete Thorn video is really indicative of what it does. Same price range as the Zen/tube.
  10. They're all the same. It's just like wives. They sound different in the beginning. Each and every one of them. And then one day you are just sick of their shit and you just want to sell them off in the end.
  11. The OD11 is close to being as good as my Timmy V3 …albeit being a bit less versatile. I still have several LPs and only ever had to send one back with problems…but others have not been as fortunate. The dude has a great ear, though.
  12. Severe case of being in your 90s.

  14. A rare, MIJ (Hdrx config)Fender w/HSC for under a grand? Get it! Who TF cares if it is made out of basswood? From my experience with MIJ Fenders I could almost guarantee you'll be very happy with the guitar.
  15. Appreciated, but I’ve been burned by LP too much. I’m out, and on to better businesses.
  16. 1969 pressing.
