  1. The reason they take so long is that Dave Brown, Gary Pirro and myself (Hamer crew for the past 4-5 years, Dave - block of wood into a masterpiece guitar in raw wood stage, Gary- all finishes, including insane graphics {me sanding in between coats}, me - sand guitar, buff guitar, assemble parts, wire, setup, jam!). Everyday the priority has been Guild production first, then Hamer if we have time. Of course, because of the small Guild workforce, everyday we are jammed with Guild work. Once every three weeks or so, we'll try and sneak 10 - 15 minutes or so on one until somebody says "Hey! What in the fuck do you think your doing! Put down that Hamer and step away from the bench slowly. If you don't do as we say, we'll have to call in backup. Before we get back to work on the Guilds we are instructed to shower first to get the Hamer skank off us so it doesn't get on the Guilds. You know, chocolate in my peanut butter thing. We still have 5-6 custom orders coming through. Look forward to working on them. I'm going to wear fake nose and glasses while wearing a trench coat with nothing on underneath while working on them. Maybe they won't see me. As a side note, I worked at Guild guitars in Westerly, RI from 1983-2002 when they moved and we had a lot of fun. So, that is why they take so long. I hope this helps.

  2. TA-DA!!!! My custom order is done. This is a dream come true, something I had always had in mind and never had the chance to get it built -had previously contacted RS Guitars and they wouldn't do it. But thanks to gorch here, I finally found the right builder to make me this, exactly to my specs -chunky neck and 24.75" scale included. Please, meet my Scheithauer Mayday-V: Now it's done, ready to get shipped to me. But I guess she will spend some few weeks at gorch's in Germany first -still have to arrange this with him, as he seems now not very sure about it. In any case, I can't wait to have it in my hands!

  4. I have some nice nuts Gibson old stock 6/6 nylon, hard yet very slippery. great for warming it up a lil bit, great for Maestro's, bigsby's, etc. Femur bone nuts, tight open chords. Corian, oem nut material shit. Old stock Mycarta. between corian and Bone OFR floyd nut, Old Kahler locking nut (if I can find them...) the rest, depends on what the customer wants on it. But I usually stick to the above list.

  5. As of letting Dr. May to know about it, the following pictures lead me to think he might actually like my guitar quite a bit: What is funny is that my RS-V idea dates from at least 1990, and I didn't know May had used a V as a backup but until a couple of years ago. Also, not so long ago I noticed he was playing a V on the Princess of the Universe video -I think it was Ana who made me notice so, actually: I asked about it here and was told it was a Washburn-something he grabbed around to avoid using his RS on the clip. So, I guess my Mayday-V will make now much more sense to everyone... even to the man himself!

  7. Huge kudos to that Ronny Scheithauer guy! He's run with the vision of a couple of members here and flat out killed it each time! The guitar is stunning Ionel. A perfect marriage of favourite guitar and player. Something to treasure for sure! Scheithauer Mayday Standard anyone?
