  1. Hello guys, I remember from some ads in guitar magazines that there was a combo amp which could host a POD or a V-Amp, so you could use your modeler as if it was an actual amp. Can anybody please tell me what it was, the brand and so on? TIA!
  2. So, Brad Gillis wanted to include Hamer in the article, but the story is long... Ok Peter, I think I'm willing to listen to it anyway! BTW, that Vee is too pointy for my tastes but it is cool as hell. Great stuff!
  3. Happy Father's Day to me and all the fathers around!
  4. Man, I wish you the best luck in the world. Positive vibes from here to there, and please, keep us posted -- I know we all wish the best for you.
  5. Any story about the origin of the name "Centaura"?
  6. So, almost every name is car-related, right? Chaparral, Diablo, Vector, Daytona, Talladega, Monaco... WOW! Keep'em coming, please!
  7. Ok, some of them seem quite evident to me. For example, "Vector" refers to the V-shape and at the same time is a "rock-and-metal-friendly" name. I wonder however who had the idea of that name. Jol? Other names, such as "Duotone", are more than obvious... On the other hand, I don't know why the "Californian" has that name. "Chaparral" is also a weird name -- what is it supposed to mean? Also, I know "Diablo" means "Devil" in Spanish, but I don't think that guitar deserves such an evil name... and so on. Any Hamer qualified historian around to tell us who named each guitar and why? Edited to add: And what about the name "Centaura"? How can that make any sense at all?
  8. ...or you're maybe lefty?
  9. Man, this thread has got me into a desperate need of refinishing the top of my white Vector -- still on Nick's hands. Hats off!
  10. It looks very fair to me as the honest buyer I mainly am... but what if the buyer DOES screw you as a seller? I mean, there are people who won't pay if they win an auction (so you're forced to relist the item), there are also people who would do false claims against you for a lost or damaged package... How can the seller defend himself in those cases?
  11. Me! Every time I've left a band... they disband!
  12. I totaly agree with this statement. Yeah, he got it all: tone, finger vibrato, chops, melodic ideas... The more I listen to him, the more I would like to play like that: not too much shredding, no overplaying... just this tasteful and fluid soloing. I see now from where Marty Friedman developed his own style.
  13. It's a Gibson, of course.
  14. I guess this one qualifies, even if it's just rehearsing: And this one was taken in the studio with Nick & Co.: Edited to add this one -- taken the same day than the one above. Riffing with attitude!
  15. I don't like the look at all, so I might still prefer switching guitars...
  16. A friend of mine just gave me a bunch of old guitar mags from the late 80's / early 90's. I see Hamer ads everywhere -- BTW, Jeff Watson models are particularly abundant... This makes me wonder: are Hamer glory days gone?
  17. Queen - Queen Rock Montreal/Live Aid smokes!
  18. WOW! WOW! WOW! I love that guitar... Did I say I LOVE it? A shame I have other deals already running around, or else...
  19. Agreed... and for some reason, it is absent from "Queen Rocks" "Ogre Battle" is very heavy, yes, but I guess "Queen Rocks" actually means "Queen Mainstream Rock Songs", so that's why "Ogre Battle" is absent. By the way, Queen is my preferred band ever and Brian May is one my biggest inspirations. I even own all Brian May solo albums. All are good, but I think "Back to the Light" is amazing, as well as "Live At The Brixton Academy" -- if you don't have them, please check them out!
  20. A very recent one: -- sorry that one was not with a Hamer.
  21. That is an awesome Cali! Does an HFCr own it now? Is Vernon Reid a member of the HFC?
  22. It does when HE plays it! Yeah man! That's it! Talk about getting inspired thanks to your instrument!
  23. Hell, Vernon Reid's Cali should then sound like a mess of disparate overtones!
