  1. I wouldn't drive more than 20 hours to Minneapolis. But I'm gonna check plane tickets now... F@&*k I don't wanna miss that one! -- BTW, MSG & UFO stuff is good. And "Little Wing" for playing an extended jam we all, that's just perfect!
  2. Hey Yngwie308! You seem to be the full-packed ultimate shredder... There's a lot of REALLY GREAT stuff in your list, dude!
  3. I don't find it ugly -- I actually think it looks great with the square base plate. BTW, I've felt myself tempted to buy one, just because I find it cool.
  4. Ah! I haven't listened to anything from Impellitteri for a very looooong time. The sole album I have from him is the first one --was it "Stand in Line" its title? Anyway, I love Graham Bonnet's voice and style. Can you please recommend me something newer from Impellitteri? I should have also mentioned that. I've learned a lot from the players I've played with -- for example, Nick here got me into Randy Rhoads not so long ago.
  5. Brian May is my biggest inspiration ever. Him (see above), Marty Friedman, George Lynch and Jeff Waters (Annihilator) are certainly my main influences. Lately I've been into Michael Schenker and Uli Jon Roth a lot, and I think it also shows...
  6. Gosh! I love that one! THANKS!
  7. Have a listen to Force Of Evil. Very dark, with powerful vocals, great thrashy riffs and lots of good solos. Those are Mercyful Fate members with a new vocalist -- the guy has nothing to do with King Diamond. The second album, Black Empire, is killer. You might also want to listen to Crimson Glory. The Astronomica album (1999) is with another singer than Midnight, but it's very heavy and you'll love it if you like Judas Priest.
  8. No anniversary pointy things?
  9. Just happened to me not so many days ago. I was working on this instrumental piece and came with this cool chord progression for the chorus... I recorded the rhythm guitar parts over a basic drums track and was happy as hell because the riffs were very catchy and the chord progression meant something... when suddenly I caught myself humming a UFO song over "my" music.
  10. +1 on Nevermore. Great thrash-like riffs, quite good vocals and a lot of shredding (if you are into that).
  11. Well, I'm seriouly willing to give them a try!
  12. Quite simple to me: a Super-strat looks like a Fender Stratocaster (more or less) but has the following additional features: - 24 frets (or more). - At least one humbucker (at the bridge position). - A floating tremolo (Floyd-Rose or Khaler). Edited to add: There are some guitars with 22-frets that might be considered as Super-strats as well -- I'm thinking about those ESP models.
  13. I don't play those but I have played them. So, I vote Hamer because the Cali has better access to higher frets and better tone -- actually, I still have to play a Jackson whose tone pleases me. I also own a Centaura (Slammer Series) and love to play it -- even if I don't play it as much as my vees.
  14. I would like a lot the one with the flames... if it had no flames at all!
  15. I believe everything he says --I mean, in this case.
  16. +1 It looks like we're getting closer to crying out loud "Hamer is dead. Long live Hamer!"
  17. Forgive my ignorance... What is a "modern upgrade kit"? :|
  18. Several years ago I got a new Chinese Standard from Dave and it felt, played and sounded great. I sold it to a guy in a local band who was looking for an Explorer. He tried a Gibson Explorer (USA) and my Standard (import) side to side and he finally decided on the Standard. However, it must be said that the Gibson was 900 bucks while my Standard was 450. It must also be said that Dave hand-picked my Standard from all the imports he had in stock at that moment -- well, he told me so. I've tried Epiphone Explorers too and they feel a little slimmer than import Standards. I prefer the slightly fatter neck on the import Standard. Also, the pickups on the Epi aren't very good to my tastes --they are a tad muddy. On the other hand, Duncan Designed pickups on Hamer imports sound great --I mean, really GREAT, and you all know I am a tone freak. So, my conclusion is: the import Standard wins. And if in addition you are into the fancier features such as crown inlays, body and neck binding and a cute flame top, it's a no brainer --and you get "Hamer" printed on the headstock as a bonus. But of course, all this is just my opinion. You should still try them all and judge for yourself. Edited to add: FYI, I sold the Standard just because I never got used to its shape.
  19. I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes Scorpions here.
  20. Well, as I said, I've overlooked his lead playing all these years, but after paying attention I'm 100% with you: great tone, attitude and articulation.
  21. Well, now that my fingers hurt, I'm back online. Yeah, maybe because of the ugly cover it was at 2 x 10 bucks at Wallmart. I got that one and Kiss' "Destroyer" --another cheesy cover, I know. BTW, I like "Great Expectations" from Kiss. I'm glad I'm re-discovering this music --I'm a thrash son, but better late than never to get into this stuff.
  22. I have to tell this to someone: I'm so into Uli Jon Roth and Michael Schenker that I had completely overlooked Mathias Jabs' abilities as a lead guitar player. I got Scorpions' "World Wide Live" yesterday and I've been playing it the whole day. Mathias Jabs is all over the place on that album, really on fire... Man, you bet this guy can play! He's got some serious chops... One could even say Van Halen with Scorpions! It's quite... stimulating. So, I think I'm grabbing my guitar right now and BURRRN. CU later!
  23. It looks great anyway, man! Killer axe!
  24. The headstock is 3x3, right? Because if it was a six-in-line, I'm affraid it wouldn't still be here.
