  1. Hamer didn't start making the import Cruisebass models until @1997. There is really no difference between the '97 product through the very early 2000s. They offered a 4 and 5 string model and 2-tone sunburst was an offered finish option. The "USED" and/or "2" stamp indicate that it was either a defective instrument sent for repair or one that had damage in shipping and was sent to Franklin or another rehab shop to repair and sell via a liquidator. The sticker number isn't really able to date the instrument, as that was added by the repair facility, and the import serial numbers aren't helpful for narrowing down the manufacturing date, unfortunately!
  2. No way that was earlier than 98. I'd say '99-03.
  3. I was saying I hoped it would be the slim taper so I wouldn't feel bad! I'm a big neck guy!!!
  4. This one would be the one I'd want, but not enough for a pair!
  5. I'm truly hoping to hear that this one didn't have a big, beefy neck... 🤞
  6. I've got a few from that era, gold with the raygun graphic.
  7. No reason for four separate threads on this topic, so they're being consolidated here in the original post. Thanks!
  8. This is more appealing to me and can be had for $800 to $1,300:
  9. Yes. He sold it last year.
  10. I've played that one more than any Shishkov I don't already own and shared a few stages with it as well. It's nearly identical to my #0001 and is from the same batch. Killer guitar!! This is from the night I drove 3 of the first 4 Ultimates from CT to MD.
  11. Adding a few more...just because:
  12. Anika is a total monster behind the kit. I also caught her on the final Jeff Beck tour - she is the real deal.
  13. Out of order, but here are more pics...
  14. I got to hang with Mike and Trish last week for a long-overdue visit. I did manage to get a peek at #0093 (now residing with a happy new owner in the Greater Chicago area), and was -as always - blown away. Here's a bit of her story so far...in pictures:
  15. He probably wasn't thrilled that the BBC made them mime to the track either!
  16. Nice! There was one in that finish that was custom ordered, so I wasn't sure. That's a killer SP!
  17. My son was going back and forth between a new Chinese-built Electromatic and an older Korean one. In the end, and after trying dozens of new and like new used ones, he opted for the MIK model. It's a fantastic guitar, and if he decides he wants to upgrade it, I've got a few sets of TVJs around that he can toss in there. He's happy!
  18. I saw the band live on their 1992 "Break Like The Wind" Tour. I honestly found the live experience to be almost as funny, if not more so, than "This Is Spinäl Täp", which has been one of my Top 3 movies since 1984. So many obscure sight gags, and the show was so well done. Those guys have so much raw talent.
  19. I saw it on Wednesday with the family and we all enjoyed it. Seeing it again with our neighbors tonight...
  20. Was this one refretted? With stainless frets?
  21. Paul was long gone by the time that the O'Connor Holoskulls were a finish option.
  22. Yes. Paul left Hamer in 1987. He was not with the company in 1992. A faulty recollection?
  23. I've known Jay since the very early days of the HFC way back in the 20th Century. We hung out a fair bit over the years and I fondly recall a couple lunch breaks from work when Jay, Turdus and me got our greasy fingerprints all over a bunch of guitars at a nearby Northern VA Hamer dealer (good ol' Russ...). I caught him out playing in a band or two, and I think he probably struggled with the urge to throw a beer at one of my bands from the crowd over the years as well. Quite possibly, the funniest and smartest muthafuckah I've known, and I managed to stay out of the receiving end of his sometimes caustic wit for far longer than I didn't. I was probably his primary supporter behind the scenes on the board for many years, and more than a few times, talked things out with him in order to prevent a Chernobyl-quality meltdown here, but I wasn't always successful. Not sure what turned, but we're all human, I guess. I tried to reach him via FB a little over a month ago, but haven't heard back, but I know he has far more important things on his plate right now, and I totally understand. Jay - I wish you nothing but the best, and you've made more people laugh - and some even cry - around here, but at the end of the day, you're a fucking LEGEND.
