Tom: If somebody can figure out how to get THAT done, I'll make a countribution on your behalf for the pure genius of that idea!

Don't forget to ask about the "Poe's Ass" Rebate...

It's really a very simple choice. Doubleneck - Duotone on top, Artist on the bottom. Cover ALL your bases!

Songs that "stopped you dead in your tracks"

I'm right there w/Copper on the Johnny Marr thing. He is an unbelievably cool and distinctive player. As much as I didn't care for Morrissey's trip, Marr made me a Smiths fan (of course, they also had one of the primo rhythm sections of the 80s). The man can play the coolest stuff without the flash and burn and just KILL you with it. His newer stuff (Boomslang) is also worth a listen... -

Crap! I forgot about the first time I heard "Crazy Train". I can remember exactly where I was (on a camping trip w/Serial and our 'rents) and the crappy AM/FM radio and even the radio station (WSEA) that played it. Of course, I can't remember what I had this morning for breakfast... -

I still remember the first time I heard each one of the following songs as a kid/teen and they hit me like a ton of bricks: "Hot Razors" - Crack The Sky "Since You've Been Gone" -Rainbow "Barracuda" Heart "Unchained" - Van Halen "Oh Candy" - Cheap Trick "Getting Closer" - Wings "The Song Remains The Same"/"Fool In the Rain" - Zep "Sultans of Swing" - Dire Straits "And Your Bird Can Sing" - Beatles "Brass In Pocket" - Pretenders (although - "Kid" knocked me out more, I just don't remember hearing it the first time as well!) "Baba O'Reilly" - the WHO -
Good Lord, don't let Serial see this thread... !!!!!!!

One more of Tom's, but still not the one I'm looking for...that graphic is the coolest thang to grace a Standard since the little B&W checkerboard graphic.

can you tell me about this Strat?
cmatthes replied to Jimbilly's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Right on - those are the "Smith" Strats - they put a few cost-cutting features in there, like the top load, a funky/smaller headstock, the pickguard input and a few other items (remember, THESE were the same great minds who thought putting one less neck bolt would save big bucks!). Most of them are fairly inexpensive, and can be good players/giggers. The only ones that you should pay any kind of premium for out of this run are the "bowling ball" swirl Strats in Red, Blue and Yellow. These were the platforms they used for those... BTW - check the pots, but that should be a 1983 model. That was towards the end of the "Smith" era.
