  1. I LOVE that bass - it is a bit heavy, but sounds like a freakin' train. I hate the headstock on the Vees, Explorers and would have purchased at least one of the FBs if they had done a 6-in-line on there (but NOOOOOOOOO!). Those sparkle finishes are/were the best in the biz.
  2. Oh, HELL NO!! He was on a bill with a bunch of other bands. I went to see what was left of KIX. As I recall, a balding Jani Lane was also fronting a buncha guys who had a tough time squeezing into their white leather pants... What can I say - I was at the DE beaches for a week, and that's the best Dewey's Bottle & Cork could offer up!
  3. I really dig your sig line - cracked me up!
  4. H.Hokie: I got ya, just trying to fit some work in-between my posts My wife has always encouraged the things I enjoy, and vice-versa, so I guess I'm pretty lucky there. She actually likes guitars and has taken the time to learn a little bit about them, especially the vintage stuff. I did date a girl in college who had gotten increasingly moody over the course of one particular month. Finally, she blew up and tearfully accused me of being more into my new Rickenbacker 12 string than I was her. Sheesh...guess she was right.
  5. A few years ago I had the pleasure (??) of seeing "Stephen Pearcy's RATT" (Just S.P. and 4 replacement dudes). I guess that counts?
  6. Nicework so far, PF! Looking forward to seeing the finished product! Thanks for sharing the pics.
  7. I'm checking that out now. Wow - that voiceover guy has such a rich, warm baritone! Great idea. So far, so good! My son and I want to make sure that no dogs get shot...
  8. Or why not just ask Jimmy himself? I know you feel that the HFC is the Oracle to which you must pose all your deepest musings, but I don't think that any of us are qualified to answer for how HE feels about the subject.
  9. All offices of my company are closed - all over the world today. I hit the Mall (much against my will!), but am now two Guinness Pub Drafts into a nice late afternoon/early evening away from what has been a very stressful job lately. Ahhhh...BRILLIANT!!
  10. I think those were standard on the 5 String models. Never heard nor seen anything called a "Cruise Deluxe"...!! I loves me them basses.
  11. Can't see those blowing out at $1,499 - not too many dealers would be willing to lose $5-600 + off of their cost on something like that!!
  12. They have a number of differences from a Studio Custom - think of them as the Hamer for Les Paul RI collectors. Thicker body, one-piece neck, vintage carve, 17degree headstock pitch (more LP-ish), Brazilian board, specially designed, wound and numbered pickups and limited run.
  13. Looks like they're really going for retailers who offer superior customer service at and after the point of sale... Do they do setups and quick repairs over by the meat department now?
  14. Man, reading that made my day somehow. Thanks for what you're doin', man.
  15. This, coming from the guy who's avatar makes my eyes bleed...
  16. Watch out what you say about that cheeseball! He may be judging you and the Playboy band next year at the RnR Hall of Fame!
  17. Ha ha ha - my thoughts exactly, Steve!! I LOVE that old chestnut... You know what they say about opinions.
  18. CraP! Can somebody put that on a disc for me?!?!?! I saw them in '86, '89 and '92 and it WAS always great show. As much of a DLR VH fan that I am, Sammy was (and IS) an unbelievable frontman. Shame that those VH boys have A-holed themselves into irrelevancy...
  19. Let me correct what I meant - the footswitch switches between the lead and rhythm MODES of the amp. It does have a single jack, but Boogie uses that "Dual Mode" circuitry so you can simulate a channel switch. There is a Lead Master knob that works in conjunction with the footswitch to give your leads a boost. It is "in series" with the Master Volume and is located in front of it in the signal path. Hope that's more clear!
  20. It's a channel switch (Rhythm/Lead) Not sure if this is the 22 or the 22+ - the 22+ has the EQ section. This would be from the mid-late '80s with the metal switches. Both are great little (LOUD) combos.
  21. Peso: Elduave does really well with the Martins - nice electronics too for the price.
  22. Armitage is correct - it may not be possible to get the yellowing out of a finish, although the naptha will remove the gunk and grime accumulated over years. Just don't smoke while you're doing that little job, or you'll be like the Flaming Banana man.
  23. Nope - the layers of binding are laid on as individual strips, believe it or not. One of those "we do it the hard waym even though we don't have to" things they do so well.
