Marty - we'll definitely be thinking about you and your family. Many people above have already said things that I was thinking. I still think about my Dad often and am glad for the time we did have; good, bad and just plain father-son time. You'll keep that part. Hang in there for the tough times.

Actually, they haven't made any bolt-ons since @ '97. EVERYTHING is a set neck now!
-
Not that it helps, but I've seen more Virtuosos for sale in the last 10 years than Set-neck Calis. That's a killer finish too. You have a great guitar there, pal! Enjoy it.

Agreed 100%. Do you guys have any idea how hard it is to keep everybody happy around this place?! As MCC said, we'll proceed.
-
Well, "Black Beauty" has already been taken... Suggestions?
-
Wow! Can I live in your basement?

Okay, I just got back from checking out that bass right before Dave packed it up for shipping. OMG, that's nice!! That satin finish is damned cool in person, and that one is a nice groovy lightweight that VIBRATES in all the right places. I probably shouldn't have done that, because now I REALLY want one... Definitely a home runner, and the new owner is gonna be thrilled with this one.

D'oh!!! Gawsh, I just felt a little bit sick again...
-
Sheesh. I guess I need to stop by this week and check that bass out! Damn, that looks great!

What a motley-looking crew! Have a blast, gang! BTW...that custom Studio is a GREAT color! Fit for a king...or some royalty or other!
-
That was actually a stock model until some point in '91 before the switch to an arched/carved top (see below - my '91):

JT: VERY cool! I'm loving that finish and the 3 coil deal. Subtle...like I like 'em. I've got a tele body from the 100mph dood - he was very reasonable, and did it to my specs in record time. It'll be great when I actually finish it. Holoflake is a tough finish to photograph - it freakin' rocks.

Purty ones to look at, the dirty ones to play with
cmatthes replied to polara's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Hope I didn't give anybody THAT impression! I've never had a problem with "axe contact" w/EL, as it's always been in good fun and we know each other's boundaries . It's all part of the playing experience, and the more fun you have, the more likely you are to see a chip or ding here or there, but the blast you're having while you play makes it all worthwhile. Enjoy your trip, pal! (I'll be sure to mention my 90% discount when I check on the store while you're away - ESPECIALLY if that Monaco bass comes in - ha ha ha!!) -

That's why I wear my basses where I do! (hence the wink) -

Elduave has been known to crash cymbals (and my basses ) with his shiny new guitars. His Zandard has been, uh, "relic'ed"... -

Go to the EPA Website... There's apparently a severe penalty for dropping Supertramp music in any format randomly in the great outdoors. For disposal, the site provides a link to Department of Homeland Security. -

Steve: Your 8 string is a stunner, but I bet it sounds amazing as well. My b-12M and b-4M were both shiny new custom orders at one point, but have been sweat logged, bumped and bruised and grunged-up. I still wipe 'em down and buff 'em up all purty, but am less concerned about a self-inflicted (note I said "SELF-INFLICTED") ding, scrape or scratch than I used to be. It pretty much comes with the territory. I'd like to keep my Monaco 3 as nice as possible though. I'd be far more bummed if that got battle-scarred, but I'm sure it'll have it's day too. -
Question about Flying Vs & Vectors
cmatthes replied to JohnnyB's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I clicked out of my reply post, but I am not a fan of those Gibsons (the ones with the 3 in-line knobs that don't line up). For that price, you can find a far superior late '80s/early '90s reissue (or an '80s Vector). -
Looks like an early '90s model.
