  1. This is the one (apparently the only one) that was at the NAMM. I didn't get a chance to plug it in so all i can say is abou the look and feel. Exceptionally well made guitar, I've always had a soft spot for that body shape. Typical Hamer neck, on the fat side but not baseball-bat overdone. I loved the dots with the V at the 12th fret inlays. The only thing that seemed out of place was the headstock. I understand that it's part of the Hamer look, but that shape seemed too big and wide on the Talladega. The guitar seemed to be somewhat neck heavy too, probably due to all the mass from the headstock. The neck joint is great, that dreaded shelf from the Monaco is gone. There's quite a few similar shape guitars that I've seen, here's a couple that I liked: A few other interesting happenings from last weekend:

  10. The sound of a distortion box depends in great measure on the guitar and the amp. I found that different boxes change character if I switch amps or guitars (or both). For my ears the Tech21 stuff matches Fender and some Mesa amps and are ballsier with humbuckers but fine with single coils too. The Rat was made for Marshalls and humbuckers. The Fuzzface... I'm not sure what that works with. Boss and EH can be buzzy and thin. Usually I plug in the Rat and/or XXL
  11. Rechts had his minute in the spotlight but I can't vote for him since lately he's been missing a few bulbs from the chandelier. galejt rules.
  12. He was only 59, too young to die. Terrible loss for world music.
