LOVE it!!!

Blitzes and Standards are VERY different. The checkerboard Explorer that Peter had years ago was a converted Blitz unless he picked up another (which is of course possible) since then. The conversion was apparent from the heel, the edges, the Blitz headstock (with centered logo) and a round cavity for the pickup selector switch. Paul thought that Peter had the one made for Paul Simon's son. There were two (or possibly 3) four digit checkerboard Standards done including Rick's. One was for an English Guitar mag contest and the guitar (not Rick's) is pictured. The Simon guitar may have come later and actually have been a converted Blitz done at Hamer, although that seems further fetched.

Was talking to Frank on Friday and he sent me a pic from his office. My dream guitar has a twin!

Had mine out last night. Love that guitar.

the ten most righteous HFC-owned Hamers
serial replied to veatch's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I'm lovin' it. Right now actually. -
Santana was THE most painfully boring act I've ever seen live. Kiz nails it-sure he has a distinctive sound, but it's like a "nails on a blackboard" horribly annoying sound (ok, more like a mosquito buzzing in your ear). Men at Work were better live and .38 Special, although they might have been worse than Santana, at least had a decent song or two (but they were AWFUL live).

1979 was the best year for music. Period. The 80s had some remarkably BAD music-especially the shi+ that charted. Agreed that thd 90s and 00s aren't much better, but Billboard charts aren't really an indicator of good music.

PSA: Talladega Ultimate
serial replied to gorch's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
I wouldn't doubt if it's the same seller or a proxy. The original auction was full of, well let's say "overtones" that kind of identify it as likely the same seller. And McChris is correct. -
PSA: Talladega Ultimate
serial replied to gorch's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
I never understood the rationale of "I'm having a hard time selling at one price-let me ask MORE for it" either. Then again, at least the listing was scrubbed of the absolutely nauseating maple tree BS that was there last night. -
This is a stone fact. True dat. Even when he's comatose, he's still fun.

Kiz-how could I forget? She couldn't have had it comIng more than Chris Brown though. "Dear Rosemary" with Bob Mould is a great song. I don't love all Foo tunes, but the good stuff is really good. I also really dig QOTSA "Songs For the Deaf"-Grohl is a very distinctive (and as most drummers will acknowledge) very talented drummer.

"Wasting Light" is an excellent album. I frankly don't give a rat's ass about "cred" or any of that pretentious bullshit. There are lots of cool tunes on there. Grohl is an excellent drummer, competent guitarist, great songwriter and one hell of a showman. I don't know anything about his past in music (I know he played lacrosse in NoVa where he's from, so I do t see how that's at all punk) and whether he was a tool or not. I dont really care-I like alot of his music. If he was an asshole, then let karma work it out. I will say that even the shittiest Foo tune is better than "Tattoo" though. ;P

Miller Beer Guitar U.K.
serial replied to RichRS6's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
I really like the Miller guitars. I've got a red/gold Miller and a MGD guitar. I'd gig with them more, but my main band is sponsored by Yuengling, so I can't use it for those gigs! -
Hamer "Bucket List"
serial replied to django49's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
I think Martin sold his bass a year or so back (or was going to sell it). Farndon's pink one was a B04-one of the top "gets" in my book too! -
Originally Hamers were sold without cases.
-
GC never sells guitars with the original cases it seems-even the ones that are supposed to come with them. I've sold guitars with and without OHSC-I've BOUGHT guitars just for the cases, taken the case for the guitar I needed a case for, then sold the guitar I didn't need.

Hamer "Bucket List"
serial replied to django49's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
I've had practically every Hamer model over the years-certainly any I've ever wanted, except for : -TLE Custom (yes, I'd deal with a Floyd for one of these) -Newport (w/Bigsby) -Phantom 12 A Phantom Doubleneck would be my dream guitar though. -
I've dug those guys since Junior High. Great Brit rock you don't hear much of. Hamer coincidence-Paul related to me this week the story about selling Mick and Boz custom Hamers. Very cool.

I had one of those in practically NOS condition that I picked up in 97 after lusting hard after one since 91. LOVE the look-HATED the guitar. It sounded like crap and the neck was SG-wooblefucky. That guitar put me off of SGs for many years. They really don't bring that much on the vintage market. Most are pristine too. Iha's was up for sale a year ago and as I recall sldidnt fetch that much. I liked the feel of the neck but not the way the guitar played-kept it less time than any guitar I've ever owned. Replace everything, play it and take care of it, otherwise, you just have a $2-3k (on a very good day) paperweight. Gibson has too many "rare" models that this one has never really spiked. I still watch for them because they look SOOO cool.

Very weak, lame and the video is pretty sad. David Lee Roth looks like someone who is trying too hard to be funny. Either that or he's the kid showing off magic tricks while everyone groans and he doesn't get that people hate magic tricks. And I'm a HUGE VH fan (until they died in 1985).
